Ok, I will be having both an upper jaw expansion / move forward to correct a small underbite and a lower jaw cross bite correction soon. Does anyone know if after 11 weeks I will be recovered enough to be able to look like a normal person? I know that I'll be on to solid food by then but I guess swelling could still be an issue...reason I ask is that I go back to college in 11 weeks and I hope that I don't look like the swamp monster or something.

I can't tell you that you'll look totally normal but if it makes you feel better I had surgery 6 days ago and my summer semester for college starts on the 21st. I would hope by 11 weeks though it wouldn't be noticable at all

A summer class I'm taking starts 1 week after my surgery. Thankfully, its online, but I hoping that I am responsive enough to read before class starts! I would think that you will be looking normal at 11 weeks. Good Luck!

The worst of my swelling went down after 2 weeks..i was able to go out in public anyways.
After 11 weeks, im sure youll be fine, you will probably still have some swelling..everyone is different.
    Anyways, goodluck!

Im a public relations major. This surgery is going to help a lot. I had confidence but now I think with my better bone structure on my face others will take me a bit more serious.

wow best of luck with your major! that just sounds difficult!

Yes you will be looking the most swollen during the first 2-3 weeks. I used ice almost round the clock for the first 5 days and off and on until day 10. I stopped after that. My swelling was probably down 75% by day 14. Now at day 23 it's probably down 90% now. The 10% still pisses me off, but most people say they can't tell unless they really get a good look at me. I would hope that by week 11 it'll be all gone!
