    Hi everyone,

I was gonna wait a bit more before I posted photos, but I am pretty excited with the side profile and so I was gonna post some photos. I had my surgery 15 days ago and it went really well. My swelling went down really quickly, I only have a little bit left on my upper cheeks and nose. I am allergic to nickel so I had plastic braces with only a few posts made of ceramic. I did not have a split or any elastics after surgery so I started eating pretty quickly (all blended of course though). I have had blended fish, pasta, chicken, quiche, peanut butter smoothies with whey. I will post my Before and After side profile and I will return and post my Before/After front profile once I can smile, because I am curious to see how the "gummy smile" will diminish with the 5mm impaction (right now I can't smile). My lower jaw was moved forward 6mm and I also have genioplasty which at first I was on the fence about, but I am happy I listened to the doc. I can't wait to get feeling back in my face though, that is really the most annoying part of the surgery

Day Before surgery and Today Side Profile

Day 2 in the Hospital-The ice was my savior I took everything home with me, I asked the nurse for two of those ice head packs, did a good job on keeping my swelling at bay.

    Day 5 (I didn't swell a ton, but I did bruise a lot hehe)

Day 13- Swelling still there in the cheeks, but I just can't wait till I can smile in a photo! Although it is interesting to be able to close my mouth for once in my life without an overbite

So those are my progress photo's so far. I believe it is coming along very nicely. Once I can smile I will try and see the different between the before and after front view.
I was a bit shy to post these but this forum is really helpful so I thought these photos might help anyone who was a bit scared like me. The only problem that I am having is my vocal cords possibly suffered trauma during incubation, because I sound like I am on helium. Although it could just be inflammation, so I am waiting two weeks on docs orders and then they may look down there with a camera if it persists. Hope all your recovery's are going well! I will post more photos when I am farther down the road and can actually smile! :P

Thanks! The recovery is going really well. I am just having a bit of trouble with dizziness. I fainted in Sears the other day and I was pretty embarrassed. I don't know when I will start to feel like myself again.

    Hi!

It is going really well! I am on day 27 and I am starting to get more feeling back in my face. I have been doing really well with food too. I actually had a piece of toast this morning I just cut it into little squares. I even did the same with a piece of pizza two nights ago. It takes longer to eat of course, but I try to be adventurous haha. There is still a problem with my vocal cords though, so I am going to see the doctor on Tuesday. I got tremendous pain in them yesterday like an egg was caught in my throat and started choking on nothing. I think it may be a good sign, perhaps the vocal muscle is coming back from the trauma, but I guess I will have to wait and see. The vocal problem is really a bummer though because I expected to go back to work soon and now I can't since I can hardly speak. I am a little worried about my smile from the front as well. When I smile now nothing shows expect a tiny bit of teeth. I know I am probably rushing it though and just need to unfreeze for the bigger smile to return. I guess it is normal to just worry that he may have moved my top jaw in too far, I didn't mind just a little bit of gum y'know? I am really amazed by the side profile and I am really happy I opted to move the chin even though it is a lot more tender at the chin than the rest of my face. Here are some photos to check it out, I think I may still be a bit swollen, but it isn't tremendously noticeable.

Here is me before the surgery, I was trying to find a photo that exhibited the gums more on top. I am looking back now thinking it might not have been so bad...but I am trying not to regret too much until I am completely recovered.

Here is a another side view and you can see the gums a bit too

And here is my progress so far on Day 27 without smile and with smile. The smile photo came out blurry, but I only noticed when I uploaded.

    without smile

    with smile (sorta hehe)

Hard to see the pics very clearly as they are quite small but you are looking lovely. The upper lip does stay pretty stiff for a while. I'm about day 48 and my smile is still very strained and tight. I think it all just takes time and patience. Will cone together in end.

Congrats on your fab result x

Bsso for overbite on 21st December. Lower advanced 8mm upper impacted by 3mm and moved forward 2mm.

    Hi all!
Thanks I am really satisfied with my new look. It feels so odd not to push my jaw forward, sometimes I go to do it and realize I don't have to anymore. I won't have to avoid side profile photos anymore :P. The only issue I am having is with my voice, my surgeon told me that they did indeed damage my vocal cords during incubation. It is very rare, but now I have to see a throat specialist and he will put a camera down there to see what can be done. It has put a bit of a downer on my recovery cause I had to quit my part-time job and don't know when I will to speak normally again. I am just hoping for the best because voice is so important
