Hi guys 8 dyas post op today. Have to say this wk has not been easy.... took the flu, was very down couldnt stop crying and last few days lip has been very sore like gums inside to tight or sumthing.

Well today was a tuirning point for me.... ortho said everthing healin very well and she cleaned out splint and said it will be comin off next wk. Also talked to her bout pain inside lip and she agrred was very swollen and skin on lip breakin quite bad because of this. Surgeon came in and took one look and said it was was stich doing it. he nipped it away and straight away teh relief was fantastic.

Have to stick to liquid diet now as she wants elastics on at all time but really excited that splint off next thurs as means elastics can be taken out xmas day to eat sum mashed up dinner which im really looking forward too.lol

Tols ortho how i was feelin she said it is quite normal as it is all big changes in short space of time. After her wee pep talk i give myself kick up the ass and just told myself to get on with it.lol asked bout elastics she said 4 wks in total then will change to diff ones aftre that but they wont be as restricted...be able to talk etc...

So all and all very happy today and now looking forward to my baby food xmas dinner.lol xox

That is awesome!! So excited your splint is coming out! I can't wait until it I my turn. Don't worry about being down. All of us end up going thru that. Had my fair share of sucky days. This surgery is really hard physically and mentally at times but we will all end up with awesome results and forget about the sucky parts. Enjoy your christmas dinner without your splint. :)

I had a 2 piece LeFort 1 that widened my upper jaw 3-4mm, my upper jaw was shortened by 6mm to reduce my gummy smile, pushed back 3mm and tilted up in the back. My lower jaw was pushed back 3mm. Surgery was December 1, 2011

@bonbon2111: I am very sorry that your first week was not easy. I could not imagine having the flu while only being able to breathe through your nose. Very sorry...
My first week was physically easy, but emotionally challenging. If interested, read my post (click on my link, then find the one titled "One week..." I was also crying a bit...it really hurts when your skull is in several pieces. Am much better now. Jealous about your splint coming off!
