Finally got chance to post this. Had braces taken off on Tuesday (3rd Jan), 21 weeks post-op.

To be honest, taking the braces off was the most pain I've had throughout it all. I previously said the first time I had my braces tightened after the surgery was the most painful, but ironically the last thing I had done I found to be the most painful, lol.

I've made a couple of other milestone posts here, which have photos during the recovery etc:

    3 Weeks
    8 Weeks

I don't have any profile photos of me before the braces on me. I'm getting new ones taken at my appointment next week when I get my retainer, so I'm gonna ask for a copy of ones before my braces and the x-rays.

The surgery was a mandibular advancement with maxillary impaction. My lower jaw was advanced 1cm and my upper jaw moved up a few mm. I didn't have anything done to my chin.

I'm eating normally now. The only thing I struggle with is thick chocolate, but I ate my first apple yesterday. Can't even remember the last time I ate one, lol.

Still getting used to no braces, let alone still getting used to the difference in my appearance due to the surgery. I forgot how good it is to eat without having to fish pieces of food out that get stuck, haha.

PS. In the first 'after' picture, are you lips relaxed or are you forcing them together?

    Thanks everyone.

@Faceache, they're more or less relaxed in that position. I understand what you're trying to get at. At first after the surgery once the swelling had gone down etc my lips didn't meet when relaxed, but as I kept keeping them together it kinda comes naturally now, even more so now the braces are off.
