    Hi.
Im 4 weeks post op (lower jaw surgery), and I'm not sure I'm happy with my results or not.
I feel like my new face is a bit long, and my profile still a bit weak. I did the surgery for medical reasons, but off course i was hoping for improvement as well. In general i was hoping for a more defined jaw line, and frankly, now i feel kinda odd-looking. My friends are saying that they can't tell any different from before, and I'm wondering if thats just something they say cause its easier to say that instead of "yea, theres a different, you're looking worse"? My bite is now perfect, and Im happy about that, but still i can't close my lips.

My questions are; can my new look still change? I might still be a bit swollen? When did you "see" your new face for real?
(Please forgive my poor english, I'm Norwegian, and cried myself to pass english class)

No idea how to upload pictures, otherwise you could have seen the results.

Hi there. Just four weeks post op is far too soon to be able to see the final results. My swelling took six months to go away and for me to be happy with the results so you need to give it a lot longer before you decide if you're happy with the results or not. You'll still be very swollen so just concentrate on recovery for now and in a couple of months you will start to feel much happier I'm sure.
You can't lcose your lips because of the swelling and it's a very common thing post op

Oh, tank you so much for your answer!

Its weird how obsessed you get with your own face, when your going through such a thing.
Just the other day, I was in a dressing room with mirrors everywhere, and I freaked out at first and then stood there for so long just looking at my self. I got depressed(?) and went home. And then the next day looking in the mirror, all happy again and thinking "hey, this looks nice!". I don't know, I might just be schizophrenic.

I've never spent so much time staring at myself in a mirror, although I'm 5 weeks I still cant really see the end result. Some lucky people can see within a couple weeks they look better but I think my changes will be subtle and only really show once the rest of my swelling has gone down. I can see my face looks more balanced tho.

Your not alone, dont worry, and don't compare yourself to other people online as it gets depressing lol x

Bsso for overbite on 21st December. Lower advanced 8mm upper impacted by 3mm and moved forward 2mm.

    Thank you!
I think i spent to much time online before my surgery, looking at other results and got the expectations a little to high I guess.
The most important thing is that my medical condition now has improved a lot.

When did you guys got the "GO" for eating solid food? I want to chew so badly, but my surgeon said no chewing for 8 weeks! So now i just eat mashed potatoes/carrots, over-boiled tomatoes with garlic/onion/herbs, spaghetti and crushed meatballs and chocolate milkshakes and coke (as in coca cola, not the drug-ish thing). And I'm starving for chewing meat. Steaks, tacos, hamburgers (I don't even fancy hamburgers!) and when the braces gets off; spare ribs! Hurrah!

How long did you have the braces on after surgery and how long did you need to use the rubber bands? I see you all talking about splints. Can someone please tell me the meaning (terms) of "splints". I have tried to translate, but It seems that I got a whole other meaning. Are splints the same as what my surgeon talked about as "jaw-lock" (directly translated)?.

Hey I think that you look great, you look more mature now, and your face looks more in balance now and your profile is more pronounced. Don't feel down you still look like you have a little swelling in your cheeks, but you look good :)
As for eating I was allowed soft foods from week 2, things like overcooked pasta, lasagna, (a favourite), eggs, another good thing is Sheppard pie. And I was given the all clear for solid food on Wednesday which was week 6

I think you look very pretty. I can see a difference in the placement of your chin. I like your hair in the last picture too.
