6 weeks on, swelling still there, Normal ???

    Today is 6 weeks post op, updated questions if anyone at all can help:

    1, I still have swelling in my cheeks, is this normal 6 weeks on ?

    2,I still cant talk clearly, i feel the swelling and the braces are restricting full movement in my thin lips. Anyone else had this problem ? My face looks stiff when talking

    3,I go for post op orthdontic treatment next week, does the 1st visit back hurt ?

    4, 99% of feeling has came back. However my lips are still numb.. Did lips take a little longer for you?

    5, When I yawn only my left side joint hurts ? anyone else had this ?

    1. Very normal, my swelling lasted months and it varies from person to person

    2. Again normal, just a result of the swelling and healing.

    3. Mine was just uncomfortable because it was tough to open my mouth still but my ortho was great and patient with me.

    4. I've heard different parts of the face coming back at different times to still normal.

    5. I've seen a few posts about it on here but no clear cause or solution, so it's worth at least bringing up with your surgeon and/or ortho.

    I'm Brandon, the creator of JawSurgeryBlog.com. I personally had upper and lower jaw surgery on October 30, 2007. Thankfully, everything went beautifully, so I'm trying to make sure everyone else's surgery goes smoothly as well!
