    @masseter ya thxs for ur valuable comment ...btw can u refer and tell what sort of orthodontic treatment u undergone ,( does it increases ur overbite/underbite to align ur teeth as DC said ) ..can u tel me clearly?? how do u feel like ??..btw surgery is a must need for me , referred an orthodontist before a yr , he told me...sry for troubling you by asking several questions , reply me to my concern ...Here n India date (booking) is not a big deal here ..can do at anytime , if i m ready !!!

    Ganesh i know you don't believe me, but research on your own. There is plenty of literature that explains the process of why braces are needed before surgery.

    @Dcg 22 i agree u to some extent and is there any way to get my surgery without wearing braces ( in some cases i heard there s no need to have braces before surgery anyway it won't make much difference, i m sure abt that) wat do y say ???

    There is an inherent risk in getting oral surgery done without braces unless it is a trauma case, when it is usually done because its an emergency treatment. Without having braces before & after surgery to ensure proper occlusion you are risking damage to your Temporomandibular joint. I am getting surgery because I need to prevent further damage to the joint which has started to hurt and click because of chewing for years with bad occlusion. If you get surgery and your teeth do not meet properly, in the long run you are risking a TMJ disorder which is a condition that is very difficult to manage and treat. Again its all done on a case by case basis hence its a team effort which takes commitment from the Oral surgeon, Orthodontist, Dentist and Patient! Also you want to make sure your surgeon is well versed in these procedures and not just a surgeon for trauma patients. Go to your surgeon and orthodontist, and discuss all your issues with them. And if you cant get it done in December who cares in the long run? You have the summer, and the rest of your life. Do it when its right for you in terms of time commitment and when your doctors think its time. Best of luck.

    Yea, they are messing with bones, tissue, nerves, muscles, joints and a lot of other crap i don't know about. I wouldnt try to shortcut your way through this. It sounds like your a young guy. you gotta be smart about it. As much as you think you have it bad now, it could be A LOT worse if you try to rush things. you gotta calm down and do it the right way or don't do it at all.

    YOU HAVE TO HAVE BRACES --what part of this are you having trouble understanding!? In fact, I just asked my doctor and he said that now even if the teeth are fine, they still need braces because it stabilizes the jaw for the operation. I.e. the outcome of the operation is much better if the patient has worn braces for several months.

    You'll need braces for at least one year before you're ready for the surgery. Get that through your thick skull!!!!

    @sarah , Dcg and masset ..thxs for ur valuable comments ..btw check this line said by a guy n this forum who had his surgery perfectly ...this is what he told

    "Hmmm, I was also told that I would not need braces as my teeth are in perfect position already. Previously, I had heard that braces were a requirement but this surgeon told me that I don't need them. I'm definitely getting another opinion. Good luck with your surgery tomorrow, Superflycrazy!"

    I felt happy after seeing this , since my teeths are aligned or if it's normal or gud have my surgery straight away( by nature) y can't i have my surgery ..this s my quest...anyway gonna consult my doc asap ...what do u say guys ????

    I don't get what you're asking.

    We're not the ones doing the surgery. It doesn't matter if we say yes or no, it's your doctor who is going to tell you if he can do it.
