Times are tough as we all know, lost my full time job and now have a part time job that doesn't come close to what I was making at other job. Which also means I lost my insurance, but barely afford a decent insurance plan. Like a rock and a hard place. I'm 28 yrs old now and my jaw is only getting worse the older I get. No children, so I should consider options asap. I was an idiot when I was 18 going through the 2-3 yr. process of corrective jaw surgery when I decided to get married and run away with my knight in shining armor. Boy if I could only turn back time. I have a major case of asymmetry (forget all technical details it's been a while). One side is growing slower than normal, and the other side is faster than normal. With the tilt it had also become an underbite. As soon as I take pics I will post. My jaw causes migranes, my bite has created sores on my tongue that are very painful and I'm consistantly biting my lips or tongue while chewing. All your stories and pictures are inspiring and also helps with the fear of the surgery. I could care less about what my jaw looks like, I've got better things to do...it's the pain and discomfort that kills me. Thanks for listening.

I feel for you. Just had upper/lower surgery 12/5/11 for pretty much what you are describing, at age 32. After a lifetime of discomfort it was finally time. Headaches, chewing food with the equivalent of 2 ice picks, grinding teeth at night, biting my lips... I also wish I would have done it earlier. Hang in there, your time will come...

I know exactly how you feel. I have asymmetery as well and I have dealt with TMJ problems for 10+ years. I cannot wait until it's my turn.

Hi there! I'm so sorry to hear about the pain you're going through, I also have an underbite and pain in my jaw. I was wondering if you've tried looking up some medical loan places? I was reffered to "care credit" by my surgeon's office, but they barely offered anything. I've been checking out different medical loan places online and some of them seem to really work with you. I'm currently waiting to hear back from one (finger's crossed!), and thought I'd share. Maybe you've already checked into it and I'm being stupid and redundant, but just in case, you might find help there! Good luck! I hope everything works out for you!
