Any affect on voice?

    Hello everyone!

I am planning on having upper jaw surgery next summer and I have a few concerns about my voice.

I am a singer and i'm in some professional choirs. I've noticed I talk and sing sort of nasally and my nose resonates a lot more than most people. My face surgeon says it may change when I get my surgery. I don't like it being nasally and it makes me sing funny at times, so my question is, when I get the surgery, will it affect the way I speak and sound entirely or will i sound pretty much the same? What about diction and speaking habits? did anyone have a lisp or something before that went away?

    Thanks, Megan

The first time I actually bit into an apple I was 17 years old, 3 months post-op, and it was delicious.

I haven't noticed any differences in my own voice. If there are any differences, they are so slight no one has noticed. I think my lips are moving a little differently as the shape of my mouth has changed, but at least i sound the same.

I think any changes in voice are minimal, and I didn't notice any either, but I did have a very slight lisp that popped up from time to time before surgery that has been eliminated, because now my tongue fits behind my teeth in the new jaw position.
