Im 10 days post op & swelling has gone down quite a bit but I definitely still don't look like "me" if u guys get my drift. There is a lot of water around my face, so its still very hard to see what will be the final result. There have been no complications so far but my nose is quite upturned, & I have these baby cheeks, I swear I look 14 Lolol!!! My chin is also smaller, looks more like a sweetheart chin is what I hear. :)

I had an apptmnt today with surgeon. First one

    hi all!

good news. went to see my dr. today for first time after surgery. some info:

he said i was healing really nicely and to just be patient with the swelling. that it's a matter of time before it comes down and the muscles get used to 'moving' and having 'tone' again, hence why it's hard to move and smile properly.

he also said he has NEVER seen anyone 'need' a liplift, that lips are very rarely, if ever, 'too' long. it's usually a structural (bone) problem, hence why orthognathic surgery is needed to correct lack of teeth showing, as it is for many of us. he also mentioned that he did stitch my nose together before operating, which i am happy about as i didn't want it moving the 'wrong' way, but, as a positive side effect, it is now a bit 'thinner' at rest and at smiling, and as i mentioned, i had always disliked my nose :P

my biggest piece of advice to ANYone considering this surgery is this: do your homework until you find a MASTER surgeon, even if you have to pay a bit more, for me it was well worth it anyway!

Hi guys. Im 10 weeks post op & I'm afraid I'm freaking out. They moved my upper jaw down to see teeth better when I talk but I can hardly see my teeth still. Maybe 1-2 mm. :,( my nurse said im still swollen but I do t feel swollen. I'm petrified that the surgeon miscalculated & I laid a fortune for this!!!!!!! I don't c how giving this more time will help the teeth snow up more?!?!

    Any thoughts?

I'm in same boat, I'm 4 weeks post op and I don't see all the changes that my surgeon said would occur either, I see like a 2% improvement in only one aspect of what I wanted improvement in so I'm raving mad. I hope yours does turn out to still be swelling and whatnot preventing you from seeing what you want to see and that hopefully in time it resides and you see the amount of tooth you need to see. I was thinking same thing too though about maybe shortening your upper lip. I mean we haven't seen any photos to really see your problem in the flesh.

My problem is a long upper lip actually, I'd be curious to be examined by your doc bec I was looking into shortening my lip bec I feel I have a long upper lip AND a long jaw, my whole face is about everything being too long and narrow. If you surgery comes out successful, I'd like know who you went to as your procedure sounded quite unique compared to the typical jaw surgery so maybe your doc could find a way to help me.
