Does anyone here have dysmorphia BDD out of interest? There's lot of happy outcomes on here but realistically jaw surgery can result in continued stress about appearance or not the result you envisaged etc...

i had upper & lower jaw surgery jan 2011. upper projected 8mm lower projected 3mm.

I haven't heard it mentioned here, but there are a lot of cases where people are unhappy with the results right after surgery, especially if it was a severe case and there's a big change, but they almost always like it when they give it a little more time and allow the swelling to go down, etc.

i suffered severely with BDD after my op in 2003. there was no information out there at the time and the after care from the NHS was really useless. I suffered immensely socially and psychologically because of my op. i have somehow got over it now.. it was a very long and difficult journey. there wasn;t a lot of info then i could find.. but now forums like this exist it's brilliant.. i'm thinking of sharing my story for the 1st time.. but really i think most of the distress was in my mind. totally crazy journey.. think i'm out the other end now and i feel ok.

Flapsandwich: I can relate to how you feel, might I ask if you have schizophrenia as well?
