I'm at 4 weeks post-op right now...the swelling is pretty much gone but maybe a little puffiness... The changes in my bite are pretty dramatic! My surgery mainly focused on bringing the top jaw forward, but my lower jaw was also set back. i can't wait to chew again!

    Hello Becca,

I had my double jaw surgery exactly 3 weeks ago. My case was almost the same as yours.

I don't have rubber bands. Instead, I have metal wires that have tied my upper and lower teeth together.

I'm going to see my surgeon next week. I hope to be free from my wires soon. This sucks.

oooh that doesn't sound fun. i'm really glad to have skipped the wires....the rubberbands are bad enough! i do feel really weird when i take them off though. the first couple times i took them off to brush my teeth were really scary! i thought my lower jaw was going to fall off!! good times... haha how well can you talk with the wires?

awww ...i feel for you! i've been talking like crazy since the day of my surgery! ...maybe not so understandable the first week though... haha

i just wanna say though that about a week ago i stumbled across your blog and i thought that video you posted of the surgery was really cool, but then i lost your link. So two days ago i was looking and looking trying to find your blog again but i couldn't....and then out of the blue, out of all the jaw surgery ppl in the world, you're the one who comments on my thread and i find that video again. miracle? i think so.

It's a small world. I am so sick and tired of my wires but I have 3 more weeks to endure.

Woah is right, what an improvement!

I just saw the video you're talking about, and that is excellent, so I'll repost that on the main blog too. I've never seen such a good and simple overview:
