I've had a slight lisp since I was little. My mouth has always been a little too small for my tongue. I guess I really won't know until later but has orthognathic surgery ever fixed a lisp?

yes its been known to fix lisps. I have an open bite, so I also have a very slight lisp which my orthodontist said will be fixed once I get it done :)

oh my god that is so exciting! I've had a lisp since my early teens (since braces began in fact). I can;t wait until my tongue fits in my mouth and I can close my lips too. Oh and breathe through my nose! Woohooo!

I'll let you know in eight days once my splint comes out :) I've had a slight lisp all my life due to the position of my jaw (I'm assuming) so now that my surgery is all said and done I'm really excited to see what I sound like once the splint is gone.

I am really hoping that surgery fixes my slight lisp. I also have the incognito braces which seem to make it worse. I think that after surgery, at first I am going to have a bigger lisp because there will not be enough room for my tongue with the braces behind my teeth.

Mybrokenface - so exciting! Thanks for letting us know. I'm really looking forward to not having a lisp post-surgery now (here's hoping it works for me)
