I'm a month post-op and my chin is still 100% numb... I'm wondering if some people rather along down the road could tell me when they got their feeling back?

It's still relatively soon, and I was really numb at that point still too.
Even after 5 weeks, when I got unbanded, I could barely feel much of my lip and chin area.
Things began to get back closer to normal around 3 months, then continue on for the next several months gradually for me.
I'm Brandon, the creator of JawSurgeryBlog.com. I personally had upper and lower jaw surgery on October 30, 2007. Thankfully, everything went beautifully, so I'm trying to make sure everyone else's surgery goes smoothly as well!

I am approaching week 5 and my chin feels weird still.
It is not back to 100% for sure.

Anyone of you had adjustment on your chin like trimming the chin bone to make it straight and forwarding the chin?

unfortunately, no good news here. i'm 4 months post op and my chin is still numb - as well as my bottom lip! hey, it keeps things interesting... i recently starting dating someone who finds it pretty funny haha! but my surgeon says it's different for everyone. he's hoping my feeling comes back by 6 months. i know a lot of other people have numbness elsewhere, like their palate. luckily, i don't have that. good luck! :)

I had orthognathic surgery on my upper and lower jaws to correct a cross-bite and underbite on June 7th, 2010. It's been a long journey, but I would do it all over again. The results have been life-changing, and if sharing my experience helps others, it makes it all the more worthwhile. :)Posted 1 year ago # -
well I had a slight trim on my right chin to make it straight and also a double jaw surgery. I was completely numb for the 1st 1 week plus now I'm on my 2nd week every feeling had been regained and I can start opening my mouth with ease with 1 band on each side. Just that splint it only goes off at 4th week which is 2 more weeks. Just hope I won't go on a band snaping spree cause I will have to be on elastics and liquid diet for 4 more weeks. xD I'm quite glad that everything went well and there is no numbness left. Only those bit of swells remainding.

Jessica,
I am 49 years old and had my surgery for upper and lower jaw correction on December 29th of 2010 ....so 9 months post op and still my lower lip and chin are numb. Sometimes it hurts to bite into anything hard and there is tingling sometimes. I feel it gets a tiny bit better every two months but drooling is becoming a way of life. I still have my braces on and they should be coming off in the next two months. I cannot say the letter "P" or "B" because my mouth will not close completely. My bottom lip and chin feel tight and it's hard to streach into a smile even. I am so hoping this will one day go away. How are you doing?Posted 4 months ago # -
I forgot to tell you that my surgeon said he did NOT cut any nerves.

haha, i was thinking that drooling has become a way of life for me, too Slice of TN. Im on week 10 and half of my upper lip, my bottom lip and chin are numb. My surgen said that elastics have a lot to do with that, so hopefully once they're gone it starts coming back to life. Just like we all have dealt with swelling, we have to be patient and deal with numbness too.
Upper and lower jaw surgery with genioplasty on July 19th, 2011. Had an open bite and underbite.Posted 4 months ago #
