Could someone please tell me how much your total surgery cost was? I am in the Washington, DC area and have scheduled a one-piece Lefort I and a BSSO. I was quoted one price (which seemed reasonable and was approved by my insurer). On the eve of surgery, that price has tripled. My insurance requires me to pay the difference between the estimated and final prices. Thanks.

I was quoted: surgeons 17,500, hospital 7000, anesthesiologist 3500 and perhaps extra if they had to make extra molds etc.. This price is a discounted price bc I am paying it all in cash. Basically writing them a check the day of.

I wonder what are the requirements for most insurance companies to cover your surgery. My underbite causes my jaw to make a loud clicking noise when I chew and sometimes I can't hear properly in my left ear ( I am pretty sure that's because of the bite because when I force my jaw back it goes away.)

I had my double jaw surgery at the Washington Hospital Center in DC. The hospital cost was about $9000 including anesthesia, which is what I've paid so far. I'm not sure if I'll have to pay more. The detailed bill for the hospital was $74,000. Hopefully I won't to pay all of this.

Entire cost for double jaw surgery and two implants was straight cost of $15,000... but I had a real generous surgeon and yeah, really blessed... Insurance covered none.

Braces: $6,700
Surgeon's fees: $15,000
Anesthesiologist's fees: $2,500
Hospital fees: $43,500
Total: $67,700BUT, I had insurance so I only had to pay $1,000 deductible, $25 co-pay each time I visit the oral surgeon, and 100% of the braces $6,700.
In the US, if someone doesn't have coverage for many of these fees, and is paying through self-pay or private pay means, then the rates are negotiated to a much lower rate, usually no more than 40% of what is quoted above and sometimes as low as 10%. However, in my case, had I not had insurance coverage, I had found another top notch doctor in Atlanta that performs the surgeries in his fully equipped office to provide a major discount. His fees would have been around $16k for double jaw surgery and that includes everything except braces.
Double jaw surgery on 12/17/11. BSSO mandibular advancement of 10 mm; two-piece le fort 1 with 3 mm impaction and maxilla brought forward 1 mm.
