Hi guys can anyone who has received treatment in the UK tell me the total cost of their treatment? I just went for a general check up to be told nothing i don't already know at a rip off fee of £16 for a 5 minute check up. I'm due for another appointment in 2 weeks for a filling on 1 tooth. That means another £16. I hope she'll refer me to an orthodontist because i can't be arsed paying £16 for her to fanny around sticking a mirror in my mouth every 2 weeks. Then there's the cost of an orthodontist itself which is most likely going to be more!!!!

Why i'm so pissed is due to the fact that the dentist told me should i have to go private and pay, the braces themselves will cost £2,000 upwards!! then there's the op which will cost about the same upwards so minimally i will be paying about £5,000+. I understand the cost of going private but i don't believe the NHS should turn me away which i have a feeling they will. My friend's sister got a boob job on the NHS with my goddamn money cause she hasn't worked a day in her life. Why did she? Because she was depressed. Boo-hoo!

    FUMING!!!

Was my last answer not sufficient?

The NHS dentist charge is standard for a check up at £16. The dentist also sent away a mould of my mouth to see if I was suitable at a curve of £50. My dentist informed me I was not so I was referred to a hospital (as is would be for jaw surgery a well as braces).

If you are over 18 and just need braces chances are they will not be funded by the NHS. I you need jaw surgery and braces and your case meets the 'nice' requirements (see the measurement details on an NHS hospital dental page) if you don't meet these you will be rejected as well like me!! Very very annoying!!

Prices for braces vary a lot across the difference places but normally within the £3k+ range. Plus then unless you have private medial te bill for the jaw surgery c£10k+

If you unfortunately have to pay you can spread the cost of braces over a year or more usually and the benefit will be for the rest of your life!!!

These are my estimates & others will most likely be different so unfortunately you may have to shell out assessment fees to find out the total costs. To point out my initial orthodontist assessment was free as they had an offer on (google some in your area) I then must have saw them about another 3 times before I actually paid anything!!

Apologies Sarah i forgot about the thread.

So if your bite is really severe you don't pay? If so look at my pictures and tell me how severe would you consider my bite in comparison to yours when you were rejected.

Have u got a link for them?

To be honest I'm not a dentist and you can't tell with pictures - and at the end of the day it'd down to your pct & hospital.

See if you can get Someone (or try yourself) to measure in mm the gap between ur upper and lower (with mouth closed) and see the link below. Bear in mind their measurements will be more accurate than yours......they have strict criteria as it is an expensive procedure.

You have an underbite, mine is an over bite so cannot compare. It looks like you have a good case though, have your dentist refer you at your next vist.

Orthognathic surgery cost is quit expensive but it relieves you from the wiered facial look and inconvenience in shewing food because of disordered jaws. Orthognathic surgery cost in UK charges about $20,000 to $60,000 while specifically in California it is about $15,000 as my friends have gone through. However taking the help of insurance user can get relief of paying such large amount in case of financial issues.

My braces were £4300 and my (upper only)jaw surgery quote is between £7-£10,000, depending on whether my top jaw needs widening or not. Then some veneers at £650 each.
