    Hey Everyone,

I got upper an lower jaw surgery done 4 days ago to correct my under bite. I just turned 20 and have had braces on for a little over a year now. So far the recovery has been going great, this is definitely the worst day though. The drugs are making me really weak and tired but if I skip them I get LOTS of pain. I don't have any questions for anyone else, but I am sitting at home BORED out of my mind if anyone has any questions about the surgery, etc. Ask away! My moms been making really amazing purees and soups so as far as food goes, I'm a happy girl.

#hope14.... Congratulations on your surgery. You sound like you are doing really well. How long did they keep you in hospital? How did you find your breathing post op? I do hope my hubby makes as good a nurse as your mum sounds lol.

Bsso for overbite on 21st December. Lower advanced 8mm upper impacted by 3mm and moved forward 2mm.

Thanks! It is going well, I keep telling myself it could be worse. They kept me in the hospital for two nights. The first night the swelling and pain was not bad at all, and the second day, much worse. I didn't sleep much either night. I have pretty bad allergies and asthma so they were worried about breathing but it has not been bad. I recommend sleeping sitting up though! Also, it is easy for mucus to build up at night so avoid dairy products and sleeping flat when possible. Best of luck to you! When is your surgery?

Thanks for the tips. How are you managing to sleep upright at home, with pillows or do you have a wedge?
My surgery is in 3 days, fingers crossed they don't cancel it last minute like they did last week lol. Keep us updated on how you are getting on :)

Lots and lots of pillows! I have some ice packs that I've been putting on either side of my face that keep head from rolling around LOL The first two nights are the hardest, it gets much easier to sleep after them. I wish you the best of luck! Are you excited? How long are they keeping you in the hospital after?

Great to hear your recovery is going so well hope14. I often feel bad as some people here seem to be suffereing a lot more than I ever did. The only real wobble I had was around week 4 when I was getting frustrated with my no chew diet and also thought I was going to have a big fat face forever. It really is a long recovery but then again, it's major surgery so you wouldn't expect anything less if it was a different part of your body. If they broke your leg and pinned it back toghether you wouldn't expect to run a marathon afer six weeks, or for your leg to look completely normal so I'm not sure why we expect our faces to be any different. I guess it's because you can see it all the time.
I loved my pillow mountain and still sleep with one sometimes as it's so cosy, especially now it's winter.
All the best with the rest of your recovery. You'll be feeling tonnes better by this time next week although I'm pretty sure you're going to have to delay christmas dinner for a bit longer!
keep us updated on progress :-)

Thanks Rachel! It is frustrating. I keep hoping the swelling will hurry up and go down but it is taking it's sweet time! I just started turning yellow from the brusing too and thats pretty yucky.. I have been dreaming about it food, it is awful. The things I would do for some sushi right now..
