    hello everyone,
First I would like to say I am really happy I found this site.
I am 18 years old girl and found out a few days ago that I am going to have my jaw surgery on June 7th 2011. I am really excited about this because it has been a long wait for me to get a set date for surgery. I have had my braces for almost 4 and 1/2 years now. The surgery is going to correct my class 3 underbite. I am going to have double surgery because I a have 16mm gap so just moving my top jaw forward isn't enough to fix it.I have a few questions:

    - In two weeks I'm getting my wisdom teeth removed.**only the bottom 2. I don't have top ones. I never had Novocaine before** How badly does this hurt during and after the procedure? How is eating afterwords?
    - This surgery is my first time being sedated for anything so being out for 6 hours is pretty intense. What was waking up after surgery like?
    - What are the surgical hooks that they add on for? **I'm not getting my jaw wired shut**
-How long after surgery were braces removed?

    Thanks a lot everyone :)

it depends on what time of wisdom teeth you have, if they are impacted they get cut out. mine experience was bad it took me a week til the swelling went, but then other ppl have better experience. I felt a bit nausea from the anesthetic, but take maxollon n that will settle it. hot soggy chips are good, just make sure you use mouth wash.

is your jaw surgery seperate to your wisdom teeth surgery? if your having it all done at once, it will be intense. i was off with the fairies when i woke up, no pain just really doey.

    - What are the surgical hooks that they add on for? **I'm not getting my jaw wired shut**

they say your not getting wired, but you will get elastic bands on your surgical hooks that clamp the movement of your jaw.. over time these will be adjusted and eventually you can take them off to eat. you will be eating through a surgine for the first few weeks.

-How long after surgery were braces removed?

depends on your case, i have mine on for another 4-6months after surgery.

hope some of my answers help you
