Elastic bands

    Hello its been about two months since my operation and everything has gone pretty well.
    I just have 2 questions:

    1. I have three elastic bands, one on my front teeth that forms a box and 2 on the sides. I was just wondering if anyone has had the elastic that forms a box, how long have you had it for because its so annoying!

    2. After your surgery when did you get your braces off? I know it depends on the person's teeth but my orthodontist told me my teeth fit perfectly so what is the least amount of time you can have your braces on after surgery?

    Well (and don't take my word on this), but I'm guessing you will be able to have your braces off once you don't have to wear elastics anymore - that probably being the only reason you still have braces on (if your orthodontist said they fit perfectly). That's my guess...
    Yeah not sure about the elastic that forms a box, I'm sure it's there for a reason!

    So it is normal to get your braces off after a few months?

    It takes 3 months for the bones to heal. The bands restrict the movement of your jaw so that you don't stress it too much.

    Okay, so if I do not wear my elastics and stress my mouth out too much could that result in my jaw being pushed back to an under bite again?

    I would just take it safe and wear your elastics!!!
