I had double jaw surgery a week ago. I weighed 98 lbs prior to surgery. I'm naturally very petite and didn't think I would lose much weight since maybe I wouldn't require much calories? However, I'm 92 lbs now after one week of surgery. :( I'm not wired shut thank god but as y'all know you really can't open your mouth at all. Surgeon also really didn't put many rubberbands on me at all. Just one on each side that wrapped around all the hooks in the back...looks like a square on each side. I'm hoping since I didn't require many that I'll move on from the syringe soon. I go to my first post-op tomorrow with him and I'll be addressing my weight concerns. But I was wondering if there was anyone who had also gone through this surgery that was fairly petite like me and what they did to not loose so much weight. My poor little body can't handle much weight lose I'm sure.

I'm not petite, I'm a guy I'm 6' and I weighed 185 before surgery, I weigh 182 now. Keep up on your calories is all, meal replacement drinks will do you very well here. Carnation instant breakfasts are a favorite of mine (lots of calcium, vitamin c, iron, protein, vitamin d).. just keep a high calorie and protein intake, and you will be fine :) sounds like you won't ever gain too much weight anyways, so I would just go crazy with it if I were you! I'd be drinking milkshakes 3x a day! Lol

I'm currently drinking protein shakes 4 times a day on top of other stuff. I'll start doing more research on things to blend with calories and try carnation instant breakfasts as well. Thanks.

I think the build up milkshakes are the answer. I need to heed my own advice and drink more than one a day. I'm down to about 112ib now and I'm 5 ft 7. I dont want to loose any more. I'm so lethargic I can't bs bothered most days to make myself anything. Vicious circle, If I ate more, I'd have more energy!! ;)
Bsso for overbite on 21st December. Lower advanced 8mm upper impacted by 3mm and moved forward 2mm.Posted 4 months ago # -
Hey! I am very tiny too. After my first surgery I lost so much weight I looked anorexic...This 2nd time what I found helped not loosing too much weight is putting loads of heavy stuff into your soups: full cream, butter, fat etc. and eating often. Instead of just three times a day, try to eat every two hourso or so..Then, definitely protein shakes! Also what I found is that alot of what seems like loosing weight is actually loosing muscles because You dont exercise or move that much after surgery. After my last surgery it took me 2 months or so to put the weight back on and all was back to normal- it is all just temporarily! Good luck!

I am 5'1 and weighed about 118 lbs before surgery because I gained a little weight in prep for the surgery. After surgery I went down to about 105lbs and I have finally settled back to my normal 110lbs. Even if you lose weight just try to eat as much as you can during recovery, and your weight will go to normal.

Ahhh! Thank you everyone!! I lost 7 pounds the first week. I know weight 91.5-93 pounds throughout the day. I've always been extremely thin, so don't be too alarmed that my original weight is 100 pounds. The weight loss has seem to calm down. Dr said it was probably my body's reaction to the new diet. Hope he's right. For a week now I've been staying within the same range. However, I will def be trying the recommendations from everyone to see if I can get back up!! So hard!! The breakfast carnations were a nice yummy change!!
