    Hello,
For those who had asymmetry in the jaw/occlusal cant, what was the plan of surgery your surgeon laid out for you? I haven't been to consultation yet and was curious. Thanks!

Yes. When I first consulted with my surgeon he mentioned "you have a cant so I'll correct that too" when he was explaining the upper jaw surgery. Yesterday I had my pre-surgical work up (meaning loads of up to date measurements, molds, and x-rays are taken, a few weeks before surgery), and he said that I have a left right cant in my upper jaw, one to match in my lower, as well as one from front to back on my upper. So he'll be correcting all of them using movements of a few mm in each place as required.

I had a cant on my upper jaw along with a crossbite and underbite. The 'plan' my surgeon gave me was that she was going to fix it all so everything was where it should be. That was as much information as I needed. I didn't see the need to know the specific measurements and specifics of my surgery. I trusted my surgeon do fix my jaw and bite and that's what she did. Just how she did it didn't matter to me at all

My jaw cants to the left because my right side is much longer. My surgeon will be removing bone from the right side of my upper jaw to level my top teeth and also so I won't have a gummy smile on that side anymore. She will then be lengthening my left lower jaw and rotating my whole lower jaw a small amount clockwise so my bottom teeth line up with the top teeth. Finally my lower jaw will be moved slightly forward to correct the overbite I have.
