Fear that OVERBITE will turn into UNDERBITE after surgery?

Just a few things that my surgeon said concerns me. If anyone can relate please let me know.

My surgeon is moving my lower jaw forward 8mm, and my upper jaw inwards as it kind of "flares out" I automatically move my jaw forward ALL DAY long, because I am so self conscious about my overbite, I have been doing this for as long as I could remember. It does cause severe migranes but I honestly can not move my jaw back where its supposed to go.

So my concern is, once I get the surgery will it appear like I have an underbite since I automatically move my jaw forward. At first the surgeon said no, now he is telling me that its possible. He said he wasn't sure because he believes that I move my jaw forward because its "comfortable" and he thinks there might be a chance that after surgery I won't have that issue.

He did say however that if it does happen there are bands he can put in place to train my jaw to not move forward. Anyone else have this issue???? My surgery is set for 9/21 and everytime I see him its hard for me to even get my bite right.

Hey stacy you are not alone this time I'm having my surgery set on 21 september 2010 too Hi 5! muhahaha we might be having the surgery at the same time but on a different location xD I'm going for a blood test few hours later to see if I am 100% fit for surgery they won't want any tragic to happen.

Well I'm fearing of my 5mm apart underbite becoming a over bite too. I have to get my upper pallte forwarded 2-3mm. And my underbite growing towards my left which is like 5mm apart from my top teeth which means they are pushing my lower jaw backward till they are behind my upper teeth. Plus my chin surgey too cause they think I look better with a chin which I totally disagree having it done at 1st but end up I still agree on having it done =X. hope I won't smile like a horse =D The surgeon had a pre model of how my teeth looks like and its like perfect bite after surgery.

One of my main concern is 2nd time growth spert. My dentist refuse to let me have my braces done until I reach the age of 18 which is last year cause the braces comes with jaw surgery. I haven grown an inch taller since the age of 17 and I'm 19 now so I assume there will be no growth spert.

Hey stacy my surgery is also set for the 21st of september 2010 as well (i think thats so weird!) where you two from? but i wouldnt worry stacy after its done the elastics will hold it where it needs to be and even bring it back a bit if need be, i have an overbite myself and so they just need to bring my lower jaw forward a bit and also i am opting for the chin thing too i said no at first but after 2-3 days of thinking about it i believe i will regret it if i dont. btw pw im 22 and i think 19 is the perfect age to get that done i didnt grow much after i turned 19 well bone structure wise anyways

Its the same height and weight I had since I was 17 I was 55kg for a few weeks then I went back to 53kg again dissapointment =( I thought I would gain some weight turn out to be a dissapointment =(. Hope I wont be underweight after surgery cause I'm going to be underweight when I'm 51 kg below.

YAH!!! We all are getting the surgery on the same day. I will be thinking of you guys on that day, so that I don't chicken out and run out of the hospital screaming. :)

I'm 27, so a little bit older than you guys, so I am glad to finally have this problem fixed. I live in the US.... Colorado

    Good luck to you both

Juliana chen I had been taking iron tables twice daily since last week after meeting my surgeon =) Actually I'm lazy to eat but because I scared of blood I must eat else I will faint off.
Yeap one tube for blood test I had it drawn out yesterday. Next weds draw out 1 unit of blood for standby at the blood bank. I hate seeing blood and feeling the sting of needles. I feel super awful =X

I don't depend on luck =X I'm 19 and your 27 you should be more bold than me =X If you adopted the faith america has you should be able to pull through the whole surgical and healing process peacefully. =) He hears, he provides, he heals, he never fails =)
