Sorry to moan guys, but nearly 3 weeks in of liquid-only and I am fed up! I have also developed some strange habits with food...! Three weeks on Tuesday I get the wires off and I will be banded and I can't wait! I will be able to move onto mush - it cannot come soon enough!

Any suggestions of things that can be blended and preferably not sieved (though I am happy to sieve if it means it'll taste nice).

So far I am enjoying home-made soups best. I tried blended cheese sauce, broccoli, cauliflower and parsnip today and a suggestion of my mum but I really didn't like it. Since there was nothing else to eat I ended up having milked-down bread sauce and some gravy (separate though).

I am having a lot of difficulty at having things mixed together I like to have things separately (unless it's in a soup) I think it tastes nicer but not sure if it's also a bit physiological that I have a bit of control over what is going in.

I also have a thing about sniffing food...! I am starting not to feel hunger at all (just get a bit shakey and it reminds me to eat if I have forgotten) so I've been sniffing things that I would normally eat such as my other half's chicken nuggets and then I will have a milkshake because it makes me crave food (can't call it hunger really). I'm not sure if my body has adapted to turning off the hunger feeling as it was there the first two weeks and then it just seemed to disappear.

I'm just fed up really and the only consolation is that I've lost nearly a stone (lost 12lbs so far). I put on a lot of weight before surgery as I wasn't exactly the biggest of people. I am 3lbs less than my pre-surgery-fatten-up-diet weight which is good.

Sorry to moan, I know a lot of you guys have been through it and gotten out the other side so some words of encouragement would be great :) I really think I'm going a bit mad.

I was wired for 6 weeks and it sucked. I used to ask my friends to eat in front of me just so I could vicariously eat through them lol. I also used to look at food blogs and food websites quite a bit. Never did that before and haven't done it since I got unwired. Strange side effect I guess. I ate practically the same thing (blended soup) for 6 straight weeks so I can't give you any tips on food but I can say to hang in there. It will be over before you know it.

Ditto with jawbone. I'm just reaching 2 weeks and I've been rotating on different types of soups lol. I'm pretty sure it'll stay the same for the coming 4 weeks.... I can't even have anything that's too 'sludgy' because it's too much effort to suck. It'll be over soon though, time flies.

It's wierd that some people are on a liquid diet and others such as myself have already been cleared to eat. I'm two weeks post op from bimax and sarpe surgery and on Friday they removed all my bands and gave me two elastics to wear except when eating or doing physical therapy exercises. I basically was told that I can eat anything I can cut with a fork for the next two weeks and then I should graduate to chicken and salad and fresh fruit.

The problem I'm having is that I can't open wide and I'm having to learn how to eat and chew all over again and its terribly frustrating and also quite embarassing to do in front of others. I hope I can learn how to do this fast and that my jaw strength returns soon. I'm forcing myself to eat and I feel like crying after every meal cause how much it sucks to want to do it properly but I guess its just going to take patience on my end.

I will give the Ready Brek and Sammolena a whirl!

Also found a recipe for scrambled eggs that is supposed to taste the same so might try that tomorrow!

I was fed up yesterday (not even a week after surgery) so I started to eat normal food. I put it on my tongue and I swallowed. I've done the same today with a sanwidch with ham, I just take very small pieces and swallow them, obviously without chewing, because I can't help it, I need to eat "something normal".

It's amazing what you can actually eat without chewing! I wasn't banded or wired shut so could have whatever I wanted (so long as I didn't chew). I got quite creative in the end! So long as you're not chewing you shold be able to have whatever you fancy. Smoked fish with mashed potato, melted cheese and peas all mixed together was my favoutrite. Jelly and ice cream, corned beef hash, bolognaise, mashed up pasta and sauce and anything that went into the belnder really. Good luck when you get onto the mush stage of food. Just don't get too enthusiastic or you'll end up with really bad indigestion!
