Yes we live in a superficial world. People treat you differently if you look normal to them. Of course characters matters too. But when people look at you for the first time, they characterise you into different groups based on the way you look.

For me, I'm doing this for medical and cosmetic reasons. Medical because my jaws are starting to worsen. Cosmetic because I want to feel more confident about myself and be able to smile widely in public. I am always self-consicous about my teeth, I think they look horrible, and my jaw. I HATE my underbite and I want to fix it while I can.

People just go into "Oh, you are doing this for cosmetic reasons.." when I tell them I'm doing this. I hate the almost instant FIRST reaction most people will have. Yes, then I will say "screw them, it's my jaws." Haha..

I never really knew there was a problem with the way I looked until surgery was suggested to me. I always thought something was off about my face but I kind of shrugged it off. What really bugged me was the pain in my jaw and the fact that I couldnt eat foods comfortably. But now that I know how my face will be improved, I finally see what appeared off balance to me and I am really excited to have those problems fixed!

Listen you guys are all way off track, the OP wrote: "Why do people so have objections to this type of surgery if it's just for comedic reasons?"

And I'll answer the question --I think it's a VERY bad idea to have jaw surgery for comedic reasons --if you have a flat nose and a flat face you'd probably get a lot more laughs then if you were pretty. So I think it's perfectly reasonable that people have objections to your getting surgery for comedic reasons --most really good stand ups are super ugly/funny looking.

MD....if you've not got anything useful to say please can you stop posting. I'm not sure if you think you're funny but more than anything you're just annoying and clogging up the internet with useless comments
