I am 34 years old and had a double jaw surgery on Aug 9. I had a little bit of numbness on the left side of my face and all of it is coming back. I was not told that anything would be permanent because of my age but because of the nature of the surgery it could be permanent and that everyone has a different experience. Please do not let the age thing scare you.

Your age should not affect whether you have permanent numbness but you may take a bit longer to recover. I'm 34 and had double jaw surgery 3 months ago and have no numbness at all, just a little bit of sweling still left in my cheeks that my surgeon is confident will go away. Everyone is different though! Numbness is a possible side effect of surgery no matter what your age!
