Omg thank you all! I'm definitely less anxious about the pain now. Just going to pray for good results and no complications.

Hey for me the wisdom teeth hurt more which lasted 1 week, but the jaw surgery recovary was ALOT more uncomafatable/draining,which is 6 weeks+ for me (mainly because of the elastics) my swelling was horrenders but it did go down pretty quick after the first week, and if your wired/banded shut that was/is the worst thing outa the whole experiance phscologicly, although I am deffantly happy with the results so far :)

So far I'm too early to start a blog. I got my wisdom teeth out 2 week ago and just started talking with my surgeon about jaw surgery. I'm definitely doing it and my first appointment is in January. I do want to blog about it later when the process starts. Why are you getting the surgery?

phoenix, my surgeon told me had to have my wisdom teeth removed six months before the surgery at least so that the area had plenty of time to heal. I don't remember the exact reason but something like they interfere with jaw placement during surgery and it's important for the area to be healed. I think most surgeons would recommend having them taken out prior to surgery.

They do recommend to do the wisdoms well before the surgery, but they're taking JUST my top ones out during the Lefort. I don't know how they judge whether or not a person is healthy enough to undergo that much at once, but I trust my surgeon.

just done a search on wisdom removal i thought they put you to sleep but now it seems they[NHS] normally remove them with local anesthesia so i'm not so worried now,
i had to have two unerupted premolars extracted under general before they would fit the braces on , so dont want the hassle of more surgery apart from the big tri-jaw surgery hopefully some time in 1212.

Yeah I had the choice to do it with local anesthesia, sedation or being put under and I'm such a wuss I chose being put under cause I didn't want to be conscious of what was happening.

Just 11 weeks ago I had jaw surgery on my top and bottom jaw along with my 3 (yes I only had 3) wisdom teeth removed at the same time. So, I don't know the difference in pain, but with the surgery there wasn't much pain at all. I was obviously put to sleep for the surgery, and my face was nummed, which certain parts and my gums still are, so I didn't feel any pain from that. For the first few days afterwards I experienced some pain in the jaw, but, but I had medication to take care of that, and you will too. And as long as you get through the first week, you're good to go. That first week is the worst cause that's when most of the swelling occurs, and you're just plain uncomfortable but after that each day you feel better and better! The main thing is to drink lots of liquids, and as soon as you come out of surgery put ice on your face! helps a lot with swelling, and talk! you can't move your mouth, but you can move your lips and tongue for the most part. Since I was doing that right away, when I went to drink, my lips had movement so I didn't dribble all over myself! and mostly just follow the surgeons orders. I did all of that, and even after the first week my orthodontist and everyone was extremely pleased and surprised at how well I was doing for just having a major surgery. I know you were wondering if the pain was worse or not, but I figure that little bit will help! It's just generally nice to have someone who had the same thing to give their experience or suggestions.
