I think it's based on the individual. Of course the amount you can open your mouth will play a big part in what you eat. But if you can get a spoon (I started with a baby spoon because it's smaller) into your mouth you shouldn't starve. I would say I was definitely hungry until about 4 or 5 days post op but then I started eating soft pastas right off the bat. Anything I can cut up real small and swallow whole. I am a thin person to begin with so after 5 lbs came off in 5 days I decided I wasn't going hungry anymore. Here are a list of things I can eat at 3 weeks Post Op:
Most pasta, pancakes, waffles, Rice, Soup with crackers, Oatmeal (porridge), Omlets, etc. I'm going to attempt a soft PB&J sandwhich cause I'm craving Peanut Butter! The only thing to note is you may have to keep the portion size small because it is VERY tiring to eat a large amount of anything. I started out eating about as much as my kids the first week to 2 weeks but now I serve myself up a BIG bowl of spaghetti with meat sauce. It takes a while to consume but it's so satisfying to be FULL :)

Im almost 5 weeks post op, and I cant actually chew anything. I eat pasta and basically swollow it whole. If I have to chew, I can only use my two front teeth, but I wouldnt be able to chew food in my mouth in the back like normal people do. I probably would lose the food in my mouth if I tried to chew it with my molars because I still have no feeling there. Sometimes I feel like Im never going to eat chips ever again, but Im trying to be patient.
