Last topic for now I swear, but since I have my mouth wired shut, I still have to take two 300mg capsules of clindamycin 3 times a day to avoid infection. This is, by far, the nastiest thing I have ever had to put down. I've tried it with different drinks and smoothies and it is about unbearable to take down. I end up just mixing it with an oz of lemonade and taking one of the worst shots on the face of the earth.. anybody know a better way?

MemberYuck :( are you sure you can't get a liquid one? That seems odd considering you're wired shut. I had a liquid form of something and it was nasty but you could just about pretend it was syrup and swallow.
I've had some luck mixing powder with concentrate squash, something really sweet/undiluted to mask the taste. I've also had hot lemon/water/honey, sometimes the heat takes the edge off the taste. Good luck! It's only for a little while longer ^^

MemberI was told by my dr that the liquid form tastes worse which is why pills are preferred. I had to crush mine and take them with apple juice. It was super nasty. What I found to be the best thing was to take it in as little liquid as possible and to chase it with something that would coat your tummy and drown out the flavor. Oh yea, and plug your nose while taking the shot. I took it with apple juice then chased it with Bolthouse Farms Mango puree smoothie. It was the only way. The thick puree also helped ease my tummy, otherwise, I would vomit shortly after taking the antibiotic.
Double jaw surgery on 12/17/11. BSSO mandibular advancement of 10 mm; two-piece le fort 1 with 3 mm impaction and maxilla brought forward 1 mm.

MemberI've never had the pill form of it but... everytime I've had crushed/powdered pills, don't you feel like the grit gets stuck in your mouth and it takes ages for it to go away? At least with liquid you could wash it all down with lots of water lol.
Liquid could be nastier but yeah... to me, leftover pill-grit is worse haha.

MemberIt comes in a capsule, so it's not gritty, it's about as fine of a powder as could be. I am mixing it with a very small amount of liquid because it's so bad. I bought a smoothie yesterday (about 16 oz) and I put just one capsule in.. Ruined the whole thing couldn't even take a sip lol. So I guess my options are, A: don't take it. Or B: be a man. Lol

MemberFeel for you, I've got the same thing with tramadol. It makes me full on wretch when I take it no matter what I mix it with.
I have some capsules but the roof of my mouth us as dry as a desert and they just get stuck!I'm going to try mixing with a bit of yogurt later x

MemberOh, dear! The horrible antibiotics! I got a bad tongue infection from it (thrash) and I had to have more meds added to my daily regimen. Ew! Just try your best... Taking these was worse than the actual surgery... :[ Almost to the end! You can do it!

MemberThat stuff is sooo disgusting. THEN I ended up being allergic to it! I kept waking up with night sweats and my heart rate went up dramatically! I stopped taking them after 5 days even though i know I shouldn't have.
To drown out the horrible taste, I mixed it with Naked Juice. Naked has a really good and strong taste so it drowned out the taste of the clindamycin
