I'm wired shut for six weeks and it's been very difficult to get anything thicker than diluted creamy soup through my wires due to my splint and also, I assume, my small mouth? Anyway, my doc gave me the catheter syringes but those don't get in behind your teeth (between the teeth and back of your mouth. So, I tried for awhile to find a solution.
http://www.dinnerthroughastraw.net/ has what's called a "Complete Kit" for around $15 and includes a squeeze bottle (not that useful in my opinion), handbook with lots of recipes but more importantly syringe and two tubes (one is actually a urethral catheter and is the only one I can fit). It's been great for me. I can actually eat blended soups now that aren't just broth (couldn't get the mac and cheese in but I should've diluted it more).
This has been a true godsend for me to get substantial food down and if anyone else is in my situation, I would highly recommend buying the syringe with tubes if your surgeon doesn't give you some.
