    Heeeey everyone!

I have been told about this site by a friend, So helpful. Thanks. And photos, may I say look great! It makes me more confident about my upcoming surgery. My questions for anyone reading this is and can help out are:
    (1) I have read some of, Well most of people get numbness, Is this bearable ? I mean do you absolutly hate it or does it not bother you ? Can anyone elaborate more on this ?
    (2) Is the surgery safe? I am a little freaked out about be chopped up (bleeding) and being under the knife for so long :)
    (3) Any tricks for bringing down pain, swelling and numbness quicker ?
    (4) How much did your nose change ? was it the top or tip, or both ?
    (5) How about speech ? better or worse ?
    (6) Is asymmetric problems common , after surgery ?

I think that is all for now ;) great site!

Hi Willow. I am six days post-op so I will try to answer best I can:

    1. The numbness is mostly in my cheeks, chin and under my eye & nose area. I barely even noticed it until I touched those areas in front of a mirror and didn't feel anything. I still feel my lips (they just feel bee-stung) but the meds help with that.

    2. This was a concern of mine as well. I have never heard of anyone not recovering from jaw surgery. There will be a full medical team to monitor your breathing, heart rate, blood pressure and all your vitals while your surgery is being done. But of course you won't even know whats going on as the anesthesia knocks you out cold

    3. ICE, ICE & more ICE. The first 24 hours after surgery the hospital gave me a large ice pack that when around my head. I suggest you make use of, or order a jaw bra which is hands-free way to reduce pain/swelling. Here is the website: http://www.therapacer.com/craniorehab/products/jaw-bra.html

    4. My nose barely changed. It looks more symmetrical at the bottom now that my upper jaw was lifted and straightened. I love it!

    5. I was able to talk right out of surgery because I wore elastics. I could also open my mouth 3/4 an inch. Some of my words were unclear because my mouth was so swollen (plus I had a tube in my throat) but I was suggest you talk minimally for the first few days anyway because it exhausts the jaw and makes you really tired

    6. I have had no asymmetric problems so far. My left side is slightly more swollen than the right but I know its because of how I sleep. Aside from the swelling, everything looks even and proportioned. I am extremely happy with my results. Good luck to you!

Thank you sooo much nikki, You have put my mind at ease. My mind has been racing with all these thoughts of being horribly numb for the rest of my life :)
I will look into getting a jaw bra they seems fantastic.
Im just waiting for a surgery date to come available. I should find out soon. Little nervous, as everyone is i guess lol. But im sure it will be fine. All the best with the rest of your recovery!

    Hi
I'm currently 6 weeks post op and am feeling great
Once it's all over you really can't believe how hard it really was , but you get through it
Even now, I have a bit of numbness on my bottom lip and chin but it's really not a bother. Even when the numbness was at it's worst it wasn't very bothersome, just when eating or drinking ( you can't feel if the liquid or food is dripping) which can be embarrassing and frustrating.

I had a slight lisp before and it has pretty much resolved itself.
My nose was my biggest concern, since I really liked it the way it was. It barely changed, but the movement on my upper jaw was only around 4 mm. It looks a tad more upturned.

if you;d like to see what I look like now heres the link:

and you can see my before video and the ones where I am more swollen on the same page.

    Good luck

Thanks Tamara, It is good to know the numbness is not a bother. I was preying it was a type of numbness I could handle :) Did you have top, bottom or both jaws moved ? I tried to check out your video but the link is giving a error message "The URL cointained malformed video" What is the name of the video on youtube? I may be able to look at it that way. I look forward to seeing your video. Have a good day.
