    Hi all,

My name is Naomi and I am from Birr, Co. Offaly, Ireland. I am having upper and lower jaw surgery on the 23rd November and I am starting to FREAK OUT! ;(. I found this forum online and was hoping some of you could ease my nerves by telling me a little about what to expect. Previous to this I have witnessed some terrifying clips on youtube, so hope that this approach will have a more calming affect.
Also, I am having surgery with Mairead Cashman in Cork. Anyone Irish out there that has attended the Clermont clinic?

    Kind regards,

    Naomi :)

    hey naomi,
I had my surgery done in st james' hospital in dublin :)
i had mine done on the 12th october just gone.
I was freaking out as well before mine..but i shouldn't have worried..my surgeon and his team were great :)
i was in hospital for 5 days (mon to fri).
When you first come out of surgery you'll be all bandaged up but dont worry they take that off the next day...the swelling was only bad for the first week really...
make sure you hav plenty of ice ready to make icepacks..they help get the swelling down a bit quicker afterwards.
I made the same mistake of looking up images of people post surgery and videos on youtube..baadd idea! they made me real nervous..but its not that bad as in the videos and stuff...
You'll probably be on a liquid diet for the first 2 weeks..but dont worry i was able to liquidise pretty much all my dinners and they weren't half bad...just dont liquidise pasta carbonara :L doesnt realli work

good luck with ur surgery and dont worry seriously you'll be fine and by the new year ya'll be through the other side ;)

    Hi Naomi...

Just wondering how did you get on? Also did you go as a private or public patient and what did it cost?
    Thanks!
