Hello, thanks soo much for posting up all those videos because they have helped alot. You look amazing by the way and look like a completely different person. well done!

Well im having my surgery on september 10th this year however im starting university on 28th september. Therefore i only have 18 days to heal before i start school. Therefore i was wondering how did you feel over your first 2 weeks and how much swelling and brusing reduced and how much remained. Im having both upper and bottom jaw moved if that helps. Im kinda worried beucase i dont really want to look like a melon but i dont want to miss the first couple of weeks at univeristy. So i kinda need some words of wisdom.

If you can repsond back that would be great, but otherwise have a good day!

    Hello Bilan,

    No problem, and thanks!

With upper and lower jaw surgery, you definitely won't be fully healed in only 18 days. In fact, you may still even be wired shut, depending on exactly how your surgery is performed.

I still had significant swelling and bruising then too, but as far as simply getting around, you should be fine.

As long as you feel physically fine by then, I would definitely recommend going to university, because like you said, missing the first few weeks could definitely be a problem.

It may make you feel a little self-conscious at first, especially if you have a hard time communicating if you're wired shut, but I found people to be very sympathetic and understanding with me, so I'm sure you'll find the same.

If you have any other questions in the meantime, just let me know, and I'll be glad to help!

I was back at school by 5 days after mine. Given I didnt care about how I looked, but I felt fine. I thought that I would not want to leave the house until my face looked perfect, but if youre like me you just want to see anything and you get over the fact youre a little swollen. But by 18 days after I looked mostly normal. Alot of people didnt even think I was swollen still. I knew I was but most people said I looked fine.

I was the same way about noticing that last little bit of swelling, except mine was much later, because I was still noticeably swollen even several weeks after surgery, because of the extent of my operation. Like you said though, once the bulk of it is gone, no one else notices at all.
