hey! I am on day 5 today. congrats on the successful surgery!
i'm also very swollen. I have been doing everything possible to reduce the swelling such as
a) putting ice packs on my face EVERY chance I get
b) sleeping with my head leveled up (lots of pillows!!)
c) going for half an hour walks (swelling is all about the positioning of the body. walking around drains the blood away from your head (woo gravity!) and it's supposed to help with your swelling and your recovery in general. moving around as much as you can is always better than just staying in bed)
the thing about the swelling is, it's different for each individual. since you had such a complicated surgery (upper, lower, chin AND wisdom teeth holy cow! I got all three minus the wisdom teeth) it might take you a little longer than others to be back to normal.
as for drinking, I know its tough. try to use syringes. What I do is I grab my lower lip, pull it out a little and place my bottle/cup whatever in my mouth and move my lower jaw forward a little bit to drink. I'm not sure if that makes any sense but yeah... drink LOTS!!
the blood/discharge from your nose is perfectly normal. i had a tube up my nose and for the first two and a half days i had a constant nose bleed. don't worry, it happens to a lot of pepole so it's not a big deal. i got a nasal spray wihch helped with the bleeding and it helped with the dried blood clogging my nose. (sleeping with your head leveled up will help with breathing too.)
anyways good luck!!
