hey guys....so stoked my surgery is done w/ and that I am able to join everyone on these forums. Especially in this section with some "after" photos.

I am Day 9 Post-Op and still have some swelling obviously. The swelling is concentrated the most in my cheeks which obviously affects how my nose looks too. For some reason the "after" pictures seem to show my centerline to be a TAD off.. **however i believe this is because the swelling is also acting weird on my lip where half of my lip is swollen (the right side) which makes it not sit comfortably in the right place. When i look in the mirror everything is lined up perfectly with the center of my teeth, nose, and chin!! :)

So far i am very happy with the results and can't wait to finish my orthodontics and get all this metal out of my mouth!!!!

FYI - I am currently wired shut in these pictures, as well as right now. I am seeing my surgeon tomorrow (will be DAY 10 post op), however i doubt he will remove the wires :( Maybe he'll say they'll be gone in a week...which i am hoping for! Is that realistic?

Also...my pain is pretty much gone so i have stopped taking vikadin and sudafed. I take my antibiotics for one more day.

I will post more pictures of my smile once the wires come off. Right now there are so many wires in front of my teeth it's not even worth posting haha
Here are my pics...please be nice :)

Wow! You're looking great! I still had bruises after four weeks so you're looking incredible. And your profile looks good too.
I had EXACTLY the same problem with my nose but it has sorted itself out now (probably about wweeks five I notced it was back to normal). My surgeon said one of my cheeks was just more swollen than the other hence the imbalance. Once your swelling has gone down everything will even out.
Keep getting better. I'm sure your surgeon will be really pleased with your progress!

@Rachel - Thanks! I'm glad i'm not the only going through that as well so that's good to hear :)

@Stardust - Much appreciated...so glad it's over with. Now lets get the recovery over!

@NadiaK - I'm actually not 100% sure because going into the surgery it was suppose to be upper AND lower. My surgeon started with the top jaw and said everything just fell into place so well that it wasn't worth it to do the lower jaw with how good it turned out. Even though I will have a few adjustments more to do with orthodontics because I didn't do the the lower jaw ... i think its worth not having the increased chance of nerve damage and definitely a much tougher recovery time of having DOUBLE jaw surgery. Watch-a think....? The orthodontics I am talking about are very very minimal movements vs those minimal movements by cutting into my jaw! haha

The ORIGINAL plan for movement of my lower jaw between 8-10mm, as well as my upper jaw about 3-5mm. Obviously moving my lower jaw back this far would have required a chin genioplasty to correct the profile balance. From the get-go my surgeon liked where my chin placement was before the surgery, so he was very happy with its placement in the end when he only moved the upper. I will post the movements of the surgery of my upper jaw once i find that out from my surgeon.

Thanks for everyone's support and i'll be sure to post more post op pictures as my face continues to change (hopefully not too much change, just the swelling and unwiring haha)

    Great results!

Yeah, although my lower jaw wasn't moved forwards or backwards they still had to fracture my lower jaw because of impaction. In the process, a nerve on the left side of my face was cut. It was repaired and I'm told I should get at least most of the feeling back in my lower lip and chin.

Wow! What an amazing difference. You look great.

I have kind of the reverse. I have always had an a bit of an overbite and the ortho's have said the only way to fix it would be through surgery, breaking the jaw and setting it in place. They say it is a premature jaw. I have always wanted to do it because I dislike my profile. Not to mention, I think it makes my double chin worse.

I give you all credit for what you have gone through and I hope all goes well.

I look forward to seeing your pics once the wires are off.
