I should have mentioned this in my earlier post, but my body has severe issues with digesting lactose. I don't want massive gas and bloating pains with surgery, and after practicing "eating" my Ensure today, I had wicked bad cramps in my stomach. Ugh!

Ddid anyone else have this same problem? If so, what did you find yourself using in your diet, in order to maintain the necessary calories and stay healthy?

Try boost, berry flavored is the bEST I found. U actually don't want lactose in ur diet because it creates mucus: last thing u want! Try rice protein shakes etc. Don't use whey, it's made from milk!

Thanks for the recommendations. I was thinking of using Soy-based products, but I'm worried I won't get enough calories from them!

I'm also lactose intolerant and I used Lactaid (lactose-free) milk after my surgery. I was putting it in everything and using it to thin soups so that I could blend them better. I didn't notice any excess mucus.
