i can't agree more...ignore the msg about the makeup...frankly i think the makeup looked nice...had a nice 50s ring to it with the red lips and all.
@ashley11344...I had my surgery on 8/12/11 so it's been almost 5 months i couldnt be more happy even though my braces are still on but my ortho said they should be coming off soon in a month or two...all that's left is tweaking and correcting very tiny changes. I'll be honest...the surgery is scary especially the anticipation but once it's over...the only hard part is being banded shut and drinking thru. a straw or a sippy cup. It's not painful but it is very uncomfortable and annoying but before you know it weeks go by and you'll be able to eat soft food and everything should feel better by week 1.5-2. Just hang in there during the 1st week or 2 and get moral support from your family/friends. Do things like catch up on your fav shows to take your mind off the uncomfortableness (is that a word? lol) You will be bored out of your mind but before you know it...you're feeling much better. Stock up on delish soups...get apple sauce...make mashed potatoes...anything that can go down with a swallow. As for stuff to bring...wear button up shirts and comfy pants to the hospital...when you get discharged...tell your family to bring u comfy clothes like jammies or sweats maybe even a blankie. dress warm because you'll feel chills since you just came from anesthesia/surgery and probly lost a good amt of blood. Swelling will peak at about day 2-4 and should slowly subside from day 5 and on but everyone is different and heal and respond differently so dont freak out if you seem to look worse than others. Some supplements to take to prevent swelling/bruising are arnica montana/bromelain....eat/drink things that have pineapple extract like pineapple juice. of course these are all suggestions from various sources...some swear by it while some dont believe it works. As for pain...I would say my worst pain level was maybe a 5...it wasnt that bad that I dont really recall if there was pain and if you do feel pain...take the pain meds that your doc describes...it should help but at the same time since you cant really eat...the meds might upset your tummy. here's my post if you want to look at before/after. feel free to ask me any questions you may have! Good luck with your journey!

@ citeeofangels: thank you for your reply ! :) I cant wait till my braces are off, but I still have a very long time.. Lol, and okay, that's good to know, uncomfortable is okay I guess, nothing Incan really do for that: just gotta let it all heal, I'm glad I (hopefully) wont be in to much pain, but then everyone's different to, thank you, overall I'll take note of all that. I took a look at your before and after photos and mayst I say you look amazing ! Even the before wasn't bad, long journey huh? :) it seems like its all worth it in the end, and it better be ! :p and I'll For sure contact you if I have any questions ! :) thanks !

Hmmm. Makes me wonder who posted what about my makeup... obviously I don't care regardless, I like it, that's why I did it that way and I don't care what others think. Thank you for all the kind comments, though. Moving on.
@ashley11344
My braces are coming off in May. It will be the first time I haven't had braces on since fourth grade, so i'm abnormally excited as well. I had my jaw surgery on august 8th and it went extremely well. I healed very fast and had almost zero complications. My only pet peeve was the absent mindedness of the nurse staff in the morning. For breakfast after my surgery, they gave me oatmeal and a spoon . My jaw was wired shut.... Luckily a nurse of mine knew sign language and so do i, so i could sign to her what the problem was. She got me a large catheder syringe to eat cream of wheat and yogurt out of instead. Smart tool to use, i highly suggest it if you want to eat anything thicker than broth. I promise that as bad as jaw surgery sounds, it is so worth it and i will never regret it even if i had a lot of complications afterwards. As cheesy as it sounds, it changed my life. Time goes by pretty fast and as soon as you know it, you will be able to bite into a sandwich properly and eat an apple without issues (My two top desires after surgery :) ). Wow i sound so nerdy. Best of luck to you! You won't regret it!Upper & lower Jaw Surgery & Chin Reduction August 8th, 2011
The first time I actually bit into an apple I was 17 years old, 3 months post-op, and it was delicious.
