Hey i've definitely posted about this before but am mentioning it again because nothing has gotten better. Its been 2 months since my surgery. I had BSSO with internal rigid fixation and upper jaw surgery. My upper gums, lower gums, chin and lower lip are completely numb. I had no other numbness coming out of the surgery and i have had no improvement in these areas since my surgery. Maybe once or twice i felt a tingling sensation in a part of my lip but it went away after seconds. other than that I have had no tingly feelings. My surgeon said that he did not cut a nerve but how can I believe anything thing he says at this point? None of the areas that were numb have even started to come back yet. Its ridiculous. Its been 9 weeks, i feel like that is a pretty long time for no progress whatsoever. Im not that old either, i just turned 24. So I just don't know what to do now. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Is there any other step I could take to try and figure out if there is a problem (like the screws putting pressure on the nerves for example) and try to come up with a solution? I realize some people can live with the numbness feeling, but its just a disaster for me, I cant live with it being 100% numb like this.

It's still early days for you and completely normal to be feeling loss of sensation. Is it tingly at all or can you not feel it (eg, you can't tell if there is food on your face?) I know it's frustrating but I'm still numb in a few places 5 months after surgery. My bottom lip and chin are pretty fuzzy and my cheeks are a bit numb too. My surgeon told me it'll take 12 months before you will get the final result in terms of nerve recovery. Sadly it's just a case of being patient and seeig what happens over the next 12 months.

sadly i have no feeling at all. not even tingly and i cant feel food on my face. i would be ok if i felt some sort of progression but i have had no progression...so thats why i am freaking out.

Its been 2 months for me too and I have no feeling at all in my upper gums. I had double jaw surgery and have full feeling in my bottom lip/chin and bottom gums etc, but nothing in my top jaw. It's weird "feeling" really lol poking my top gum and not feeling a thing.
