Hi I'm new to this so I'm not sure how to start uh iv had braces for about a year and a half and i had top and bottom jaw surgery where they moved the top forward and the bottom back on February 2, 2011 they banded my teeth and I'm still so swollen and I'm having a really hard time with eating, i eat twice a day at most because when i do eat i always feel really sick and I'm dizzy all the time and I'm not sure what would help or what i could eat so i was wondering what i could eat because I'm lactose and tolerant so it makes it really hard but that's about it so i was wondering what i should eat? if anyone could help that would be great thanks!!

hi jimma i had that dizzy thing when eating for ages then went to the drs and found i was borderline anaemic so she told me to take one iron tablet per day with food and i never get dizzy when eating now!!! i think it happened cause im vegetarian. when eating our temperature rises and if yr anaemic the body cant cool down and so dizzyness occurs. u may feel dizzy when the room is hot too this is the reason...
im 4 weeks post op lower upper jaw surgery...im eating only liquidized veg and fruit smoothies and yogarts and soups..try green lentil soup rich in iron...
GREEN LENTILS Boil 1o mins in water then simmer for 35 mins
fry onions tomatoes in oil and and then add lentils and half a cup of virgin olive oil and pinch of salt..5 mins on a med/low heat..then let it cool and blend like baby food i add raw chopped spinach here!! ..add water to blend to a more runny format so its easy to swallow. EASY!! and very nutrious.
during the day i have banana smoothies and veg smoothies and blend small meals and have ready brek and yogart etc...and blend rice pudding with apple etc good luck!!

i had upper & lower jaw surgery jan 2011. upper projected 8mm lower projected 3mm.

The only thing I've found that I can eat and is satisfying (I am extremely picky lol) is a baked potato with cheese. I just bought the big baker potatoes and poke them all over and microwave for 10 minutes....mmmm

I would think it depends on how banded your teeth are :) I am on liquids and was told to eat at least 6 times a day. I usually do ensure, soups, milkshakes and soda (yea I know soda is bad but it helps the calories) I also take a B12 pill 2 x's a day it's the kind that melts so I stick it between my lip and teeth. It helps give the extra energy. Also make sure you tell your Dr you are having a hard time eating. Maybe they can adjust the bands to make it a lil easier.

No matter how much it hurts or sucks TOMORROW has to be better.......Right?
