    Hi,

I am having upper and lower jaw surgery in one week! I want to be as ready as possible so that I have everything I need after my surgery. I already bought myself a chalk board! LOL... the doctor asked me to start taking 1000 mg of Vitamin C, Iron supplements as well as one pill of arnica a day to help with the swelling- all this one week before the surgery. Aside from these, can anyone let me know what else I will need? I know lips get very dry so Vaseline is already on my list. The ice packs I guess they give those to you in the hospital?? The Any more suggestions will help. Thank you!!

Are you going to be wired or banded shut?

I noticed that the items I need are different, because I'm not banded shut :)

    VICKS!!!!
    Vaseline
    Papertowels (for the drool)
cottonballs (to clear nose with, I can't blow my nose for 2 weeks)
towels (help clean you when you try to drink for the first time)
papercups (thinner so you can drink from)
    baby spoons
    baby toothbrush
a portable mirror (to help you eat)

Thats all I can think of for now. Good luck!

I forgot to add button down shirts, the swelling is so bad its easier to not have to worry about it. :)

I prepared nothing for my surgery, I bought 2 hot and cold packs end up didn't use them. I just blend in what ever I eat usually and my clothes just fits in nicely with some tightness for the first few days. Those medcines are provided by hospitals. =) Prepare some cramp relief sprays, nasal drops to clear to nose clots inorder to breathe well. And ensures too I prefer them in powder form. =)
