Orthodontics work after jaw surgery

    Hi,
    for those of you who already had your surgery, at how many days after did you start your orthodontics treatments? I'm about 7 weeks post op and my ortho put a chain on my lower teeth to close all the gaps. This is hurting my teeth and jaw, and I'm worried that it might effect my tender jaw that was broken in 3 places just 7 weeks prior. Am I just worrying over nothing?

    I'm now 12 weeks post op and still need to put elastics on, but haven't been able to.

    Now I'm relapsing a bit lol :/ so yes you are worrying over nothing :) the chain/elastics are good for you. Leave it too late (like me) and it'll be troublesome.

    I have an appointment with my orthodontist 20 days after my surgery, i only had lower jaw surgery though, and im not sure if he will be doing anything at that time..

    I saw my orthodontist 2 weeks after surgery 1) to check I'm ok 2) to put different elastics on. I then saw her again the following week and as I am able to change the square shape elastic configuration she is seeing me in two weeks time instead of the one.

    The othodontist will not change my wire though until after week 6 as there will be a lot of force and will hurt!

    Over bite: palate expander, braces & bi-surgery with genioplasty Jan 2012!

    I saw my ortho and surgeon together after 1 week, but I didn't have anything on my teeth, and my wires were cut during surgery, so I really needed to see the ortho, plus, I had the elastics put on.

    I won't see my ortho until I get the splint off, six weeks in. But then I never wore elastics until after my surgery.

    I saw my ortho at weeks 1,2 and 3 but I was too swollen to do anything. Had my arch wire changed at week 6 and have bands pulling my 2 sets if teeth together. They are so tight stretching from back top molar to bottom teeth back up to top. Really difficult to get on and off too. Pulling like crazy and am not due back for another 4 weeks. Boo!

    Bsso for overbite on 21st December. Lower advanced 8mm upper impacted by 3mm and moved forward 2mm.

    I got elastics 2 days post op (in hospital)

    Saw surgeon 6 days post op, weekly until I was 4 weeks post op.

    Saw ortho 14 days after,put new elastics. Was there every week until
    I was 4 weeks post op.

    6 weeks got loser elastics, which meant I could open my mouth and was no longer on liquid diet.

    Saw my ortho at around 5 week and also had a power chain on, it ached a bit the first day or 2 then was fine :)

    Upper jaw advanced by appox 7mm, impacted and rotated slighty on the 19th December 2011.
