This morning, I woke up with discomfort. When I went to the bathroom to look in the mirror I had a blood stain on the right side of my mouth. When I tried cleaning up and washing my mouth out. blood came from both sides. I have this horrible taste in my mouth. Also on the right side of my mouth my teeth hurt. Like they are about to come out. My jaw is wired shut and I can not do anything about it. I don't know where the bleeding is coming from and the pain makes me even more nervous. my swelling is going down. I don't know...I just want to take these wires out because they have been doing nothing but cause trouble. I tried rinsing with salt water but that doesnt seem to work. I have also been drinking soup and other liquids in a sippy cup to help. Any advice?

    What did you have done?

Most likely you just moved about in your sleep and disrupted your sutures in your gum. This would explain any 'metallic' or blood taste in your mouth - as long as it doesn't taste disgusting/foul/rank, then it is fine. If it does taste really smelly and bad, it could be infected and you should go back to your surgeon just in case. To avoid infection, drink clear fluids, stay on your anti biotics and rinse with saltwater (although I've always just used water).

Try not to keep touching/disturbing the area. Keep your drinking to short periods in one go, instead of spreading it out over every hour (because the more you disturb the sutures, the slower they'll just clot again). Avoid trying to talk / move your facial muscles for the time being.

I had a overbite and they had to move the lower jaw forward 5mm. I have screws on each side. I have dissovlable stitches. I use to taste a real bad taste in my mouth now it went away. Will the pain in my teeth go away?
