Thurs i will be 6 weeks post op. My surgery was Jan 6th. My upper jaw was moved forward 4mm and lower jaw moved back 3mm. I get my splint out tomorrow and am hoping to post pics in the next couple of weeks. I love my bite despite having a bigger nose but I don't think it will be too bad once all my swelling goes down. I'm not going to lie, these 6 weeks have been tough, from the pain and swelling, to just having discomfort period and not recognizing "the model looking me" everybody compliments on a day to day basis. But I am happy I made my decision because In the long run I feel like I will really benefit not only from the results of my appearance but bring happy with my bite and NO MORE MIGRAINES, NO MORE MUSCULAR PAIN IN NECK AND JAW AND TEMPLE AREA, AND HOPEFULLY NO MORE LOCKING, CLICKLING, GRINDING & CLINCHING. I do have one question. When will the burning, tingling painful sensation in my upper sibside? Its my entire upper lip. That is the only pain I experience and narcotics don't help at all....do any of u experience this??

The tingling sensation is usually a good sign that everything is healing well and the feeling is coming back, but I never had pain with mine. My tingling took months to really subside then up to a year for me to fully regain all feeling.
Congrats on a successful surgery though!
I'm Brandon, the creator of JawSurgeryBlog.com. I personally had upper and lower jaw surgery on October 30, 2007. Thankfully, everything went beautifully, so I'm trying to make sure everyone else's surgery goes smoothly as well!

I find putting a hot compress on my lips help with the pain. I am 8 days post-op. I don't know whether I should consider myself fortunate for not having any nerves exposed/damaged at all during my surgery. I had a Lefort II, moving my upper jaw forward and my lower jaw back by more than 1cm. So my unfortunate (as of now) no loss of sensation has allowed me to experience post-surgical aches/pains in full force, and pain killers have already done their best (still leaving me with a lot of discomfort).
Hot compresses FTW! Really distracts me from the pain and helps me fall asleep.

grrarl i had no numbness either and most pain killers didnt help except Voltarol Diclofenac
which killed the pain and made me sleep really well too!! this diclofenac is a PAIN KILLER and ANTINFLAMMATORY so reduces swelling at the same time! clever!Posted 1 year ago #
