I recently had upper and lower jaw surger to fix a cross bite 5 weeks ago im still on a soft diet no chewing but I thought I would create a list of things that can help dealing with the surgery and food which I have managed to eat.

Items you may want to get before having it done which helped me find things easier:

Baby wipes- for dribbles, food messes and nose issues after the breathing tube
    Tissues
Pillows- you will want to keep up right for the first few days helps with the swelling
ice packs- for the nose and to help the swelling go down
    Baby spoons
    plastic/paper cups
Baby cup- sippy cups I would drip this into my mouth in the first few days
Syringes!! lots of them in the first few days they will be your buddy!
    lip balms-your lips become dry
    blender/liquidiser- for your food!
Mouthwash- usually given to you by your surgeon
Baby brush- it will be hard to clean for the first few weeks

Food ( trying varying as you can become sick of the same things easily )

Soup all types-even though try not to use lumpy soups like vegatable unless blended for a week or two
Desserts/ Puddings- mousse, custard, chocolate pudding etc (mashed up cake later stage)
Pasta with sauces- blend first stages then chop at later stage
    Milkshakes/smoothies
    Mash potato and beans
I would have chips cut up and mashed with meats and beans which looked more appatising than blending!
Blending can make the food look gross but trust me most things blended taste around about the same as what it would do whole.

Another tip is to try and aoid the cocadamol you will become bunged up! and keep thinking positive you will have down days but it will be worth it in the end and you will get the bite and appearance you want!! GOOD LUCK! :)

Good list! I think I got through about 5 boxes of tissues so far! I'll be three weeks post op tomorrow and am able to eat a bit more.
    A few other food ideas...

Mash up some fish with mashed potato, cheese and peas (it's a way to get some greens!)

Mashed potato, beans and corned beef.

Any kind of mousse or pate (I really like fish so smoked salmon or smoked makrel mousse have been good)

    Jelly and ice cream

And if you want a treat- Maltesers and chocolate buttons melt in your mouth without having to chew!

Also, make sure you've got loads of DVDs to watch. It's good to have something to concentrate on, especially in the first week post op even if you fall asleep watching them!

I just wanted to add that you should make sure to get in plenty of fruits and vegetables too!

Vegetable juice - Nasty stuff, but it tastes alright after a few cans. I use V8.
Fruit juice - Don't get the kind that's comprised of half a bottle of sugar! I recommend Sun Rype.
Egg soup - I hate protein powders, so this is how I got my protein. Add two eggs to boiling chicken stock and blend for a nice soup.
Rice porridge - You can add anything you want into this stuff! Vegetables, eggs, meats... I can't eat the veggies and stuff though, so I cut it into big chunks and dunk it into the pot as flavouring. I managed to have mine with salmon!
Cookies - nothing with bits in it, like raisins or chocolate chips. You can dunk it in milk, wait for it to soften, and eat it like that.
