Just got de-banded yesterday. What a ride. I was shut for 6 weeks and am finally getting a taste of my new jaw. It's great. The only problem is I noticed my pronunciation is a bit off. I sound like I have a slight lisp, which never happened before. My surgeon said this is normal, since I'm getting used to speaking again, plus my teeth and tongue have never been in this position. He said it will take a few days til I get back into speaking normally. How have other people's experiences been with this? Thanks.

    Congrats, Pat!

This is the greatest day, until the braces come completely off. I remember having a slight lisp at several points in the process, but each time, it was only for a few days, while my tongue adjusted to each stage, so I'm sure it's completely normal, as your surgeon said.
