Hi ppl,
My questions:
When they perform genioplasty and move your
chin forward does the bone grow like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15Ju96UPBKU
this video shows that a complete bone union happens, or
does the removed part of the chin hold to the rest of the jaw
only by the metal plate?
And i was wondering what would happen if you ended up in a fight and someone
gave you a good punch in the chin.
tnx.

I had something similar to this done, because they had to move my bottom jaw back so far, my chin needed to be brought out a bit to compensate.
From my understanding, the bones do heal back together, but that video looks surprisingly perfect, so I'm not sure if that's accurate or not.
As for getting punched in the chin, I'm sure you'd be much more vulnerable soon after the surgery, but once they are fully healed, which can take 2 years or more, it should be the same as before the surgery.

Ok. Thank you.
That's great that the strength of the jaw returns.
The video probably wasn't made to accurate.Posted 1 year ago #
