Hey I am on day 5 of my post-op, and I have been rapidly losing weight. On day 1, I gained 2 lbs, day 2 maintained that weight, day 3 lost 7lbs, and day 4 lost 4 lbs. I've been told to lose 10lbs in two weeks, but not in 2 days >_< I dunno if this is normal or not, because I've read that some ppl lost as much as 15lbs. I've been trying to regain weight, but it's hard with nausea. I still eat as much as I can though :<

It's completely normal! I lost 8 pounds in a week! I'm only 9 days post-op and i gained 1lbs since i notice the weight loss. It's normal to lose, we are on a liquid diet and it's hard to eat a lot...just dry to drink some Ensure or Instant Breakfast, or maybe add some protein powder to your milkshakes or smoothies, it helps :) By the time you get to your soft diet, you will gain back what you lost, so no need to worry :)

Don't worry, as long as you're trying to maintain wait, chances are that you're not going to become a skeleton at the end of the month. You probably have a fast metabolism, so you're burning through your calories faster. Keep at it - the nausea takes a little time to go away, and pretty soon, you'll be fine again. You can try eating small meals five times a day instead of three regular sized meals - I found that it helped me to lose weight a little slower before I was able to switch back to eating three times a day.

    Hey Tiffany,

I lost 17 lbs over the first 8 days. My metabolism was very high before surgery and remained so after surgery, so I lost a lot of weight after. No worries though, just make sure you do whatever it takes to have 4-5 "meals" of drinks daily so your body remains hydrated. If you can blend foods that is the best scenario, as when calories are in liquid you can consume a lot more, essentially tricking your body.

Don't worry about the lost weight, it will fluctuate a lot in the beginning as a lot of it will be water weight. Just keep on drinking.

I'm sure I can gain the weight back cuz i'm good at losing weight and gaining weight lol. The day I can at least chew soft food will be the first day I gain weight!!

Okay so now it's been 6 days and I've lost around 15lbs already T_T and I'm constipated~does that affect the weight?

Constipation is a side effect of meds and lack of any 'bulk' in your diet (which is understandable given you can't eat anything!) It won't affect your weight too much. Maybe anything up to a pound. My weight fluctuates by up to 6lbs in a single day so I shouldn't worry too much about it. Unless you get to the stage you're emaciated then you've got nothing to worry about. It's all part of the process of jaw surgery!
I've been drinking fybogel (liquid fibre) which has helped keep me regular! Don't resort to laxatives though as they will just dehydrate you and make you feel really rubbish which is the last thing you need right now!
