    Hi All,

Just thought i would add a couple of pictures for my before and after shots, I am currently at day 19, but these were taken at day 15.

    Movements were:

    Upper Jaw:
    Fwd 5mm,
Up at back 10mm & at front 8mm
    Mild correction to mid line.

    Lower jaw:
Fwd 1cm which has Quadrupled the size of my airway.
    Sliding Genioplasty:
    Vertical reduction 5mm & advancement of 9mm

    Phew!!!

Before profile not very flattering!! But i do not have many from this angle:

    After at day 15:

    View from front:

Before - clearly fed up of mug shots!!

    After:
looks a bit odd as trying to close mouth!!

Over bite: palate expander, braces & bi-surgery with genioplasty Jan 2012!

Looking great Sarah nice balanced profile even with the swelling you have left.
I'm day 40 and still not sure about my results. My mouth currently turns downwards and my lips can't meet naturally. Everything us taking so much longer than I anticipated and I'm getting a bit fed up now :(

Bsso for overbite on 21st December. Lower advanced 8mm upper impacted by 3mm and moved forward 2mm.

Thank you. I'm pleased with the side profile, not sure about front yet at too swollen.

Totally agree - I nearly did not put the front shot up as im not sure, plus loads of swelling still (and my mouth looks odd) but decided to put it up any way. How has it been going back to work etc, I still don't really go out - only for a short walk & covered up well.

I think the last of the swelling can stick around for quite a while and my jaw was advanced slightly more one side than the other so very lop sided swelling!

I haven't gone back to work yet, my sick note runs out Wednesday but I don't feel ready to go back. I haven't sleep for 6 weeks and I'm still drooling like crazy, find it hard to drink from a cup (keep choking) and in a lot of pain from the nerves regenerating. I know I should get out more, I've pretty much stayed in unless I have docs or hospital, but my energy levels are so low and the cold air kills my face.

My surgeon says im being too impatient, I'm 40 and cannot expect to recover as quickly as a 20 year old!! It's very frustrating tho as prior to this op I was always busy and on the go. I'm trying hard at the moment to get some weight put back on.

When are you planning on going back? How do you feel in yourself?

I know it's a good thing but I'm kinda dissapointed with my lack of weight loss (only 6lb) - I put more on before hand!!

I am due back to work after 5 weeks, so two more weeks. I have not slept that last week due to my nerves (think its them) around my lower teeth - drives me crazy during the day as well! Apart from this and the tiredness I feel ok, I have been allowed to eat soft food (or anything Incan swollow) since day 1 so I get a good dinner in me :)

It's hard though & in still not comfortable going out
    Without covering my face.

I think the thing that had surprised me most is how people don't realise what a major operation this is and how it affects you mentally as well as physically.

I definitely think my lack of get up and go is down to not getting enough nutrient rich food and lack of calories, I was on soup and smoothies for about 5 weeks and lost 18 ibs. I didn't help myself tho but quite often just didn't feel like eating and hated the build up shakes.

No one tells you about the nerve pain do they, they are horrendous at times. I had them full on around week 3-4 but they have let up a bit now. I find sleeping really awkward and just can't get comfy as it hurts to sleep on my side.

Defo agree about people not understanding how severe the operation is, including my hubby prior to my op, until I got him to watch the procedure, he soon changed his mind after that lol.

I also under estimated the whole recovery time and I did loads of research. I thought I would be ok at week 6 back eating everything!! Bit of a way to go there.

We are over the worst tho so got to keep positive. X
