I'm 15 days post orthognathic lower jaw surgery and I am bored!
I came out of hospital on the Thursday and have been at home for 13 days. I've got elastics bounding my teeth together so I can't talk and I'm on a liquid diet, and it's ruining me!
Not only am I running out of dvds to watch, books to read and games to play, but the dull practically solice lifestyle is killing me. I have met up with friends a couple of times but being unable to talk and keep up with banter hinders the experience really.
Tempted to ask my Docs to see if I can have the elastics sooner rather than later as I'm bored to tears. I was wondering what is the earliest I can have the elastics removed post-op?
Or ideas for my tormentuous recovery period??

How about playing a new computer game and getting annoyingly good at it since you have lots of time to spare...? The new Call of Duty comes out while I'm recovering - I hope to Prestige before everyone else (even though I am rubbish I figure I have all the time in the world so might do quite well).
Find a really addictive game on Facebook - there are loads out there.
Find out sommething you used to love... like The Sims or something and have a trip down memory lane.
Do something new... Jumping Clay is good - you can model things and they air-dry you could make models for friends and family.
Start drawing or baking even if you're not very good there are guides on You Tube.
Just a few ideas hope they help!

Can you talk at all?

I survived on Grey's Anatomy box sets. Ever watched House? It's worth getting addicted to a TV series! I know just how hard it is. Make sure you see your friends and get out for a walk every day. It doesn't matter how freaky you think you look, it's good for your recovery.
I wouldn't recommend getting your bands off any sooner than recommended. I know its frustrating but it'll be worth it in the end. This is the place to come and rant about it if you need to though!

I have a new puppy too! He's a golden retriever and has knocked my face a couple of times. First time I thought everything had fallen apart but it was fine. Just a bit sore. He quickkly learned to stay away from my face!

-Watched whatever has come on Sky Movies
-Read some books
-Organised things (I'm a little O.C.D)
-Stumble.com
-Made a wooden sheep
-Knitted a scarf
-Made soup
-Played pokemon
-Danced around to music
-Finally started a playlist of music I like on Grooveshark
-Written letters to people
-Played with my cats
-Learnt how to cross stitchAnd currently I'm planning my Halloween costume as I'm going to be on night only bands by then and am gonna dance the night away. I'm going as a Pikachu :D
Hope that helps! x

We definitely need a picture of the wooden sheep!
I've also cross stitched 30 Christmas cards!Posted 7 months ago # -
30?! Jeeeze! I'm not that good yet.
I'm currently doing a robot... I think it was on a section called "stitching for kids"...I am however organising my boyfriend's mum's stitching patterns that she has collected over the past 20 years, so I'm making a pile of 'to-do when I get loads better' :)
And this is the sheep I made!

Fantastic! He's very cute.
yes, I've got into making cross stitch cards during my time recovering from other surgeries. Hours pass without you even realising!
I've seen Grey's Anatomy before but I bought a box set off Amazon of the first six series and watched them back to back. It took me two and a half weeks including snoozes!
Getting out walking really helped and broke up the day too. It also helped me sleep even better as I was so exhausted!Posted 7 months ago #
