Should I or shouldn't I?

I have seen two different orthos and got two different recommendations. one said to just remove two of my perfectly two top teeth in order for my teeth to line up. the other said surgery would be a better option as it would not cause my profile to look like my face caves in on itself(something the first ortho didn't even mention would happen). So the one that said that the surgery was an option said my teeth/jaw was off by about a full tooth or 4mm. She gave me a referral to see a surgeon and he said the same thing she did. That me lower jaw was set about 4mm to far back.

So basically what i wanted to ask is if anyone here had such a small correction made on just the lower jaw? and whether or not it would bw worth pursuing knowing the risks of the procedure?

    Hi,
I was given the same option by my orthodontist and have chosen to go through with the surgery. The reason that orthodontists suggest having surgery is because the jaws (actual bones) have grown irreguarly, wither too big, too small or whatever other issues people have.
I went to see my surgeon just to consider my options and the way that he explained it to me is that even if i were to get teeth removed i would still have the underlying problem with my jaws to aligning as they should, which could cause problems in he future. So this is something that you might have to check?
and with the profile issue, you really just have to consider whether or not you will be happy with your profile with whichever option you pursue and whether in 10 years you will look back on thins and be completely happy with your choice :)

I had an over crowded lower jaw so had two teeth out. They also took the same from the top to "even it out" I also had my lower wisdom teeth out as my surgery is on bottom jaw only. Having 6 teeth out in 1 go was scary thought I would really miss them but so far so good. (it was 3 years ago) I'm having my lower jaw moved forward and it's only 5mm. Op is 24th oct. I've never really been too bothered about it but always known it needed doing so when NHS offered it for free I jumped at chance. I guess that's how I justified it, that it can't ONLY be 5mm or NHS wouldnt do it for free.
