your bite is looking much better! How did the 2nd surgery go? Were you put back out under general anesthesia?

you're looking great! Well done on getting through the last few weeks. I know it hasn't been easy for you. My surgeon was really pleased at how clean my mouth was too. I think some people are too sore to mess with it but it's sch an improtant part of recovery.
Take it easy and all the best when you return to work )I'm back on Wedneday next week :-) )Posted 10 months ago # -
@ScottA Thanks :-D The 2nd surgery went much smoother than the 1st. It took longer than expected, but when it was finished, the right side of my face hurt significantly less, my throat didn't hurt anymore (was really sore after the 1st because they intubated me through my right nostril which has a weird sinus cavity, he fixed that during the 2nd surgery for no charge thankfully.) Yes, they had to knock me completely out again for the surgery. It was only supposed to take 45 min to 1 hr and instead took almost 3 hours... go figure! lol
@RachelM Thank you as well :-D Glad to hear I am not the only one. I believe you are right, but I know if I do not keep up on it my face will fall off or something because I have the worst luck in the world it seems (2nd surgery should be a good example of that, lol). Good luck on your return to work next week! :-D

I finally found a similar case after reading posts all week long. I had surgery on July 19th and apparently everything went well. I don't have a horrible underbite. But i did notice that as i felt better and tried to open my mouth to see how it looked it wasn't like i expected. I still had a minor open bite not as bad as before but surely it was there, beides, my mid line didn't align. I felt i had been ripped off.
A week later I went to see my surgeon and he said "looks like your brain is still running the old program" regarding my open bite. Gave me an order to get some x rays and is definitely there. Still open and a minimal case of underbite, almost unnoticeable, but you could tell without being an oral surgeon that if it were to close the lower teeth would overlap. My first concern was a second surgery. My OS hasn't mentioned that possibility yet and i hope he wont, but if He does, the costs are included as part of the first surgery? Just when you think part of your sucky life ends, it makes it all worse :sUpper and lower jaw surgery with genioplasty on July 19th, 2011. Had an open bite and underbite.Posted 9 months ago # -
when I take my elastics off, my bite goes out of alignment again. This is getting better with time though. Talk your ortho and surgeon because a 2nd surgery may not be necessary; however, if it is necessary, the surgeon should do it without an additional fee (or at least he didn't in my case).

Congratulations on your successful surgery!
It's amazing that from your before picture(side profile) it seems like you're normal.
You don't look like a class 3 case. xDPosted 9 months ago #
